What do you all think about those people who wish to ban and criminalize porn, and if you are one of those people why . . . ?

I think they need to mind their own business.
So long as the people are either
1) Consenting adults
2) cartoons drawn by consenting artists
AND
the people seeing the porn consented to seeing it, it is no one else's business.

It is horrible. It is a total shame from my perspective, and leads to arousal so more and more people want to act upon something as abhorrent as fornication or adultery. It is filth and sleaze.

Because fornication leads to spread of STD's, unwanted pregnancy, exceeded limits of jealousy, problems between friends, thousands or millions of abortions annually, and even more. Adultery leads to all those, too, but is even worse because the married adulterer forsakes his family, betrays his offspring, creates mistrust, problems which can last for years, etc. It is abhorrent. It is catastrophic enough to make me know that the fornicator should have a milder punishment than the adulterer. I think adultery is such a shame that the married adulterer should be put to shame in public with whatever might can be used against him. Pornography is little else but a quick way of arousing people and letting them see the goods of these horrible things like fornication and adultery.

How does porn do that I am relatively certain that watching people have sex does not transmit an STD to me plus remember that you can get an STD in marriage, not looking at porn does not mean you are not an adulterer it is the same exact probability us a logical reason . . .

No, but it helps increasing will toward doing those things. As for STD's within marriage, it is far more rare, and it can easily be prevented. People can take blood tests before marrying and get to know each other and fall in love with each other's hearts, not skin.

STD's don't really affect how/when people fall in love....unless they are shallow.
I see nothing other then personal choice against porn, there is no excuse for a ban.

No. I think it is horrible, wrong, twisted, and sick, it tore my family apart. But it is not the job or role of the government to legislate morality, and tell people what they should and should not do.

However capitalism is the most people controlled market of all. Every person votes with their dollars, so if you can get the people's dollars to stop going into porn it will stop happening. The Government's role is not to do this though.

My moral standards are not idiotic. They do not loathe something only if it is killing. There are things worse than death.

You know what's most funny about your theory Mirza? That the places in the world with the worst HIV/AIDs statistics are countries too poor to even know what porn is. Porn is completely irrelevent in the fight against STD/STIs and you know it. If we educate young teens better about contraception, that would do infinitely more than banning porn.

You are comparing two different situations. Porn causes arousal, and that leads to fornication. Did I say STD's are the only effects of fornication? Not at all.

Don't you think that suppression is more likely to lead to sexually deviant behaviour?

Suppression? When you advocate fornication and adultery, you are suppressing. You are eventing unborn human beings from living. You are preventing families from living comfortable lives. You are spreading mistrust among people. You are suppressing. If you think that a moral ban on something is suppression, while freedom is not, you are horribly wrong.

All of that is subjective, account for how many people who can not afford to have children, people who do not want relationships (and cant get a date), and how does it spread mistrust many people watch porn and get along with others fine (99.99% of the porn watching population), your arguments are purely subjective and have no factual basis . . .

I don't know if this link will work since I had to log on to access the database but in this study http://www2.psych.ubc.ca... the authors found that "pornography use was associated with high levels of deviant sexual behavior only for participants scoring high in sub-clinical psychopathy. [...] it appears that individuals with certain personality characteristics are attracted to certain types of media content, and that these individuals are affected by that content differently than are other people." So your argument only works for some of the population.

You are exaggerating. I never generalized in this subject. I said what porn does, and what it is good at. You presume that I conclude that it does lead to fornication and adultery in all cases, but this is not necessarily true. I am saying that it plays a role in making people desire fornication and adultery, which I am strictly against.

Yes, but with all the nonsense that is allowed in the West, most of the population is affected. Pornography, prostitution, nude appearances in public, mixing of men and women (e.g., parties --> one night stands) and many other horrible things. Combine all these things and you get a good picture of how much of the population is affected.

I'm fully no porn and fully pro freedom but I'm addicted to it.

Specifically, psychopaths.

Most of the West is psychopathic? Link me a study that shows that prostitution, nude appearances in public, and one night stands are directly caused by pornography. And this is assuming that these things are wrong but I'd rather not get into an argument over morality with you. I'm sure you understand :)

I understand, but you misunderstand. I did not say that pornography leads to e.g., prostitution. I said, first and foremost, that pornography can lead to fornication. This is true. I then told you that even though all of the population is not too much affected by pornography (in the sense that it makes them fornicate), other things affect the population so that they want to fornicate.

- Pornography
- Nude appearance in public
- Mixing of men and women (partying etc.)
- Intoxications

That is among other things. Combine all these, and you have a great number of a Western population being affected and lured to fornication or adultery.
