But football Is really fun to play and really fun to watch.

Anyone agree??

I agree that drugs may have been a factor in the creation of this thread.

No cuz I didn't specify what football I was talking about.
Half the time I was talking about American football (the boring one) and half the team English football (the fun one).
So I was talking about two totally different sports. ;D.

Pay attention to the parenthesis and I'm sure you'll have no problem figuring it out.
English football= worlds best sport.

Totally agree. American football (lol "foot"ball) is very lame sport. There is reason it is not as played anywhere near as much as Football.

Idunno... Football (the real one) may only be played in the U.S. but its appeal is astonishing. The Super Bowl is consistently the most enjoyed television event in the world.

I wander why all America's most popular sports aren't popular around the world.
Football, Basket Ball, and Base ball.

Basketball and baseball are spreading to numerous places. Not quite the extent of sock her, but nothing has the extent of sock her.

I enjoy playing or watching football once in a while.
It's hard not to play it when you live in America!

I don't know why you are taking the piss of football's name when you are one of the few countries who call it soccer. And by spreading you mean spreading at the rate curling is spreading. Very exciting.

You reilize you are comparing 2 different skill sets
Soccer: Fast and have long stamina
Football: Strength to defend from 300pounds of force and be able to take a hit

That fact is america plays both sports

No no, Sock her.

Wifebeating, the most popular sport in history.

It's also true that basketball and baseball have less extent than soccer, but that makes it no less true that they have less extent than sock her.

the two sports don't differ much in complexity mind.

Actually most African countries call it soccer. They call it football too but soccer is the most commonly used.

So what should American football be called? Maybe we should vote on a new name.

-OblongBall
-RandyMossBall (get your #84 jerseys out)
-Downball
-Tackleball
-Rugbyball
-Packerball
-BowlBall ----- then bowling can start whining instead of soccer
-Americanball/freedomball ----- DX
-Bruiserball
-Lockoutball
-Dramaball ----- lately

So yeah, when presented with a list like this I can see why it ended up being called football. All the other options aren't that great, and as for the foreigners, well, we've never cared about them before and we're not likely to start now. We won't even standardize our system of weights and measures... I doubt football is gonna change any time sooner than that!

How about you rename the other one? Just because it has been around longer, played by more people, in more parts of the world doesn't mean that it should have claim to that name.

They aren't exactly resting. Running to the line of scrimmage and strategizing.

But I like freedomball. ^_^.

Remember, the first sport called "football," whatever it may have been, is neither American football nor soccer/association football. And rugby is football too, and so is aussie rules football, and so is mob ball.... Football is a category of sports played on foot on a field with some sort of leathery or similar ball, historically by bored peasants, as opposed to the polo played by aristocrats on horseback.

I heard football came about because a bunch of people were playing soccer. One of them was kinda fed up (I guess) so he picked up the ball and started running.

And I also heard their used to be more than 50 players in each team on the pitch at the same time (for football).

That sounds more likely to turn into mob ball-- a game where one was allowed to use pretty much any means to put the ball in the goal unless it involved murder/manslaughter.

This seems to make the most sense, especially seeing how Ochocinco (get your #85 jerseys out) is now trying out for soccer. I would imagine the pay wouldn't be as spectacular as an A-grade NFL reciever thought so I wonder if he would be able to get past that.
