Anyone with a decent modicum of MMA knowledge will know that Shogun was robbed of the UFC light heavyweight title. Anyone care to disagree (thought here is a depressingly small community of MMA fans here in DDO)?

I just read about it after seeing the headline on a news site.

The president of the company (UFC) apparently thought the loser should have won, so I guess this supports your theory.

The fact that this is already "104" is hilarious, though.

Agreed. Shogun punished Machida with those leg kicks. Machida's long stance was begging for it, he was out of that fight completely in the last two rounds.

The only round I could honestly of seen him taking was maybe the third.

Even though he lost, thank you Shogun for proving Muay Thai > Karate

So what happens? Do they take back the win?

No, usually the judges decisions are final (unless foul play is found of course). Athletic commissions and referee's are usually very annoying that way >.>

But yeah, Dana White believed Shogun won (and pretty much every freaking person there), so he said there's going to be a definite rematch. Which shows something, because rematches over a title usually happen only when the champion loses.

Seems like the only three people who thought Machida won were the judges.

Ah i did not see this topic! Yes i agree, as i am sure everyone else does, that Shogun won that fight.
Which leads me to the conclusion that the judges were paid off. That's really the only solution i can think of. Anyone agree with my theory?

It is hard to think of a better reason but i do not think that could really happen...
I think people got extremely caught up in the Machida hype, so caught up that they scored things that they did not see...
Machida hype will not happen again, so he better watch out... They have gotten so much flack from it that he will have to win, and win big!

Why? Randy won two rounds easily, and did a much better job of imposing his will.

I know it is more than a month later, but for the record I wanted to say that I thought Machida won!

Machida clearly won Rd. 3
the other rounds were pretty even. I thought it easily could have been a split decision.

I would point out that even Dana White said round 1 could go either way...then Dana White goes on to give Machida round 2 and 3...WELL....right there is 3 rounds for Machida...so by his own words Machida could have easily won!

Machida got in some good punches with his left hand to Rua's head/eye area.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
What did Rua do to Machida though?
He never took him down at all.... even though he tried. -->remember that each failed takedown attempt is a victory for Machida and the rules score it that way.

Rua never even hurt Machida. Machida was never in danger.

Rua didn't have many combinations...just some single counterstriking leg kicks (which I admit were very good)...Which round did Rua clearly win??? none that I saw...

but are a few leg kicks enough to take Machida's belt? what did Rua do to earn the belt?...not enough in my opinion...

whereas when Machida claimed the belt he CLEARLY AND DEFINITIVELY CLAIMED THE BELT!...

To be a champion you have to "beat" the champion!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
One other point...one of the announcers(Joe Rogan (?)) was so PRO-Shogun that he may have clouded the minds of the viewers...I would be interested to know who chose that announcer...and how much he was "instructed" to be Pro-Shogun....

I will state that I am a Machida fan and have been for quite a while...but I don't think I am too biased by those things I've pointed out...
