Apparently the NFL has a new rule where you can only tailgate for 3.5 hours before kick-off without getting in trouble. I think that's BS! Penalizing your fans is no way to run a business. If people can't tailgate, there aren't going to be as many people at the games (a bad investment). A lot of people enjoy going to the games specifically because the tail gating aspect in addition to the game is what makes it enjoyable. Not to mention that a lot of merchandise is sold specifically FOR tail gating. I think it's kind of ridiculous that the NFL is doing this and don't really see how any good will come out of it. Thoughts?

Tailgating is a joyous time of celebrating, drinking, and eating. Plus playing pass football and other great things. I don't give a crap, I'll tailgate all I want. I'd love to try and see them stop me. And if they do, screw it, I'll boycott the NFL and only go to college games where the teams actually care about winning instead of what they're getting paid.

JBlake, I think their reasoning is that people act like drunk buffoons. However, I don't see why they don't just kick out the drunk people or whatever (the ones causing trouble). Realistically, one can get drunk in what... 20 minutes? So, even if they limit it to 3.5 hours, it's not really solving anything.

Exactly. Who cares? Why try to destroy the fun of it? I doubt this will last long - they'll quickly see a negative impact.

Yeah pretty stupid. My entire family goes to the Giant games, and have been for years, and we tailgate basically all day if it's a late game so that we can feast and see the early games on tv.

I think the best policy for ensuring sobriety is just to take away your season tickets if you or someone you sell them to becomes drunk and stupid in the game, I know the Giants are basically sold out forever so this policy, if enforced, ought to be the most effective.

I had to Wiki the alternate meaning to Tailgating. I really didn't see how being stuck behind a car less than 3.5 hours was un-fun.
Pizza. I have enormous respect for Pizza.

That and more people will eat in the stadium now.
Drinking more in the stadium...
it is "better" for the franchises, in terms of making money... it is a theory that makes sense on paper but when it plays out... the NFL will find it to hurt the franchises more than help

Like Cap and trade... and uni-healthcare, and socialism...

all nice ideas on paper, but never play out well...

One thing that the NFL will do that W Bush could never do, was admit they were wrong and redirect... like coke did when they decided to change the formula of coke... after a bit... they changed back, even though pepsi was out selling them... still they corrected... NFL also will...

W. Bush is just screwed...
