No. The leagues and teams make a lot of money off of them, and what they get is usually a fair compensation.

I agree they are. However; Robert Downey Jr was paid close to 100 million dollars between his 3 roles as Iron Man from 2010-2013.
Drew Brees's contract is a 5 year, 126 million dollar contract with 60m guaranteed. Brees in that 5 year stretch can play a maximum of 100 games in those five years.
