This German octopus has predicted all of Germanys last 6 games accurately. AND he's chosen Spain to win, and Germany to nab 3rd place. http://www.latestsportsbuzz.com...

He selected boxes. I'm not calling the Octopus infallible, but tbh it's pretty interesting.

It's an interesting study in human gullibility, that's for sure.

1/729 considering he could've went for a draw and chosen neither box.

Not an option from what I've seen. Two boxes, that remain until the octopus squats on one. :P

i thought it said he didn't predict games that ended in a draw. i took that to mean he didn't choose a box. what did you make of it?

The octopus was used to pick Germany's games. No draws there.

Trainer effect is easy to imagine even without the simple probability route. It chooses the food it wants. :P Not hard for a trainer to know the odds and prepare beforehand.

Text in the article looks like it was written by godsands. http://www.latestsportsbuzz.com...

From various experiments its brightness, size and shape are different from all the objects. Paul prediction of Germany six win in world cup became right.

Wow, skeptics. Nobody said that the octopus actually WAS an oracle -- this thread is obviously just completely for fun. That said, Vi posted the video of Paul in the World Cup thread a lil while ago :P Funny stuff. Apparently he's only gotten 1 game wrong in the past few years or something (those are a lot better than 50/50 odds, eh?). Cute.

Has anyone noticed the similarity between Paul the Octopus and the Flying Spaghetti Monster? Are they perhaps related? I think we should be told.

A bit like Jesus only with TV evidence of his ability to perform miracles?

It's an epiphany!

Praise be to to the Flying Spaghetti Monster and His son Paul the Octopus, who was sent to earth to predict the World Cup results.

Hallelujah!
