This thread is to talk about all the offseason happenings, now that the new year for Football has come. Trades, releases, and signings. And eventually, the almighty draft!

Let's begin!

The Jets, now with Marshall from the Bears (at one steal of a price) have let go of Percy Harvin. What might occur for this gifted athlete that doesn't seem to fit in the standard WR role? Would the Eagles be a good fit for his talents? The Eagles still have $23.5 million in cap space and Harvin will not be able to command such a price that he had with the Jets ($10.5 million). The Jags, Raiders, Titans, and Browns are the only teams with over $40 million in cap space, so they could be looking at taking expensive chances on him.

Seattle only has $14.6 million, and that will probably have to be saved for Wilson and rookies (probably why they didn't mind giving up their round 1 pick because they probably can't afford the contract anymore anyway).

I think the Eagles just fvcked their season.

They're paying Sanchez way too much to be a backup, and they just let go of Maclin and lost Gore...Bradford is promising, when he plays.

Sanchez will likely be trade bait because of the poor class. When seeing other, not that great, QBs retire, that only raises his value. He'll be off the team soon.

He might be for if Bradford gets injured again.

Eagles signed Ryan Mathews, they must like guys that aren't gonna finish the season... Eagles are all over the place man I can't even keep track of what they're doing.

So are the Seachickens looking the best now after Jimmy joined? Or is that o-line and lack of a true pocket-passer gonna hurt them too much? If it ain't Seattle it's Green Bay, I don't think any other team is in he conversation right now especially after Revis left NE.

I like the Cardinals if Palmer is back by the start of the season.

I don't know much about the cardies' roster, what is their strong point?

Is it me or is this a fantastically-active free agency? Was it like this in years-past?

Colts are clearly AFC favorites now with Gore and A John. Have we been waiting long enough for a Luck-Rodgers Superbowl? I think we have -_-

Their defense gave up the 5th least points per game last year.

They were 6-0 in games Carson Palmer started, and 5-5 in the games he did not.

You can look at the QB, or look at the teams they lost against:
Seattle
Seattle
Denver
SanFran
Atlanta

The only weak team is Atlanta - one could just as easily say they couldn't show up when they were thoroughly tested.

Might the Eagles trade Bradford still to get another first round pick to try and trade up to get Marcus?

One issue with this is that they are in a defense division. They have 6 games against teams that do not rack up a ton of points. Their defense is still good, but only looking at points given up needs to be done with a grain of salt.

Yeah my point was it's a matter of perspective. You categorized them based on palmer's presence, I categorized them based on difficult teams they faced. They only good teams they beat were Dallas and one against SF. It's a matter of perspective.

I think they were an OK team last year. Now they are almost certainly gonna have a hard time breaking .500

Haha there's never any "just" in NFL debate, especially when you're arguing with Ore_Ele. He'll max out the thread with stats if you don't concede!

Like when the Rams said they were all in for Bradford at the combine but it was found out that they were planning on trading him before that.

Just wait until I get home!!!

well, allow me to proudly stand corrected.

Their defense game up an average of 19.2 points per game. The teams they were playing had an average of 22.6 points per game. The NFL average was... 22.6 points per game as well.

Also, they would have done better if they didn't let it fall apart at the end. Going into week 16, they were giving up an average of only 17.4. Then 35 to Seattle, 20 to the 49ers (who only averaged 19.1 per game) and 27 to Carolina. Had they maintained that, they would have had the #2 defense for points allowed.

**All my numbers included their post season game**

With the pairing of Andrew Luck and Andre Johnson and Frank Gore meaning defenses have to actually think about the run, will Luck become the #1 QB in fantasy drafts? Or will that still fall between Rodgers and Manning?

According to Vegas, the Colts are currently the favorite to win the Super Bowl (at 6:1), with the Seahawks and Packers tied for 2nd (at 11:2)
