Bob Stoops started out hot as the coach of the Oklahoma Sooners. It sustained for a while, but now it seems the Sooners are a faded image of what they once were. Does Bob Stoops not have an answer anymore? Is it just a down time, or are the Sooners done for a while?
Ignoring problems doesn't make them go away.

I think it really is too soon to tell. They had one disappointing season, but two seasons ago they went 4 of 5 against ranked opponents and upset #3 Alabama. I think if it gets to the point where they start choking in all the major games and losing a few games they should win like Nebraska did under Pelini then it'd be about time.

If you had told anyone 5 years ago Baylor and TCU would be the top 2 teams in the Big 12, you'd be mocked and laughed at. I think for Stoops to be off the hot seat he needs to go at least 9-3 with a bowl win.

The schedule is very very difficult though. Playing at Tennessee and at Kansas State are very tough and could easily be losses. The Red River Rivalry is also very difficult and anything can happen, but the final three games will define the season. At Baylor, at home against TCU and then on the road in Stillwater with no bye weeks between any game is about as tough as it can get. If they can steal a game from either Baylor or TCU and then beat Oklahoma State, that has to be considered a success.

This is a make or break you for Oklahoma and I see them going 8-4 with losses at Tennessee and the final 3 games of the year. Texas and Kansas State are toss ups but who knows. Maybe they'll surprise everyone like TCU last year, or go 6-6 any barely make a bowl game. But that's the beauty of college football. Anything can happen.

While the schedule is indeed quite difficult, the Sooners have demonstrated ability to overcome incredible deficits and pull off a W.

8-4 sounds reasonable, but I'd be willing to say that's a conservative estimate. I could see 9-3 or even 10-2 being a plausible record.

3-0 non conference is a great start for Stoops. Baker Mayfield and Sterling Sheppard seem like a good QB wide receiver combo.

This upcoming game against West Virginia will be a very interesting one. Oklahoma's defense against Tulsa was lackluster, and the offense had to bail them out. West Virginia is coming off a rout of Maryland, and if Oklahoma does not step up their performance defensively, things could get very ugly.

Ranked #10. Just gotta keep winning. Lol

It would be hilarious if they lose to Texas.

14-0 Texas. The odds of a Texas win have gone through the roof.

Well since the game is over, asking an OU fan, would you put Bob Stoops on the hot seat?

Nope. He's been to 4 national title games and has won more Big 12 titles than the rest of theBig 12 combined. The only way to the hot seat is to continually bomb for a few years. 6-7, 7-6 or worse for several years. Bad loss though.

I guess a better question for me is,"if you want to get rid of Stoops, and you look at his resume, who is more qualified?"

I'd say Urban Meyer and Nick Saban. That's it. And OU isn't getting those two. Who would be left?

55-0 over Kansas State. Crawling back up the ranks with 3 Big 12 teams currently ranked ahead of the Sooners that they still have to play. If you keep winning, you will be right where you want to be.

Well Sooner, looks like your question has been answered. In the playoff and Big 12 Champs. I wasn't expecting that. Congrats Okies.
