Anyways Ronaldo has played a few years more, so he has accumulated greater stats to this point. While both have performed well at the club level, it is a much different story at the national team level. Neither has won a world cup and Ronaldo hasn't even win a Euro Cup. They can accumulate all the club stats they want, but whoever wins a world cup first will go down as the better one. Right now I'd say Ronaldo is better, just becuase he's playing at such a prolific level and recently scored 5 goals in one match. He's the definite star for Real and is only one goal shy of reaching 500 career goals. Both are once in a lifetime players though and we should all be grateful to see such rare talent. Ashton |

And ultimately Maradona > Pele Anyways Ronaldo has played a few years more, so he has accumulated greater stats to this point. While both have performed well at the club level, it is a much different story at the national team level. This is indubitably true, while I'd also argue that Ronaldo hasn't been surrounded by the same talent with which Messi has been graced. Neither has won a world cup and Ronaldo hasn't even win a Euro Cup. They can accumulate all the club stats they want, but whoever wins a world cup first will go down as the better one. I feel this is quite unfair, particularly because Argentina is frequently *better* than Portugal. Regardless, cup stats are heavily reliant on team play as well, whereas individuals are better determinants for who is *better.* Right now I'd say Ronaldo is better, just becuase he's playing at such a prolific level and recently scored 5 goals in one match. He's the definite star for Real and is only one goal shy of reaching 500 career goals. Both are once in a lifetime players though and we should all be grateful to see such rare talent. Indeed, I think you sum this up spot-on. Essentially, Ronaldo has more experience and still performs at an exceptional level, but Messi could eventually surpass him. As for now, the King is still the king. :) "The right to 360 noscope noobs shall not be infringed!!!" -- tajshar2k "So, to start off, I've never committed suicide." -- Vaarka "I eat glue." -- brontoraptor "I mean, at this rate, I'd argue for a ham sandwich presidency." -- ResponsiblyIrresponsible "Overthrow Assad, heil jihad." -- 16kadams when trolling in hangout "Hillary Clinton is not my favorite person ... and her campaign is as inspiring as a bowl of cottage cheese." -- YYW |

Yesterday, 94,000 people attended the USA Mexico match (Albeit 70% were Mexico fans). This also will help with the growth of MLS. Ashton |

1/15/2016 8:12:49 AM Posted: 2 years ago You start by looking at how you define what makes you a better soccer player. Is it who scores the most goals? Is it who makes the most dribbles? No, it should be the one who has the most influence on the game. For instance, how would a non-striker win the ballon d'or (World player of the year)? Well, you would have to look at who is the most influential on the game and that is just Messi by miles. Ronaldo is a fantastic football player, but Messi just exceeds him by far, since Messi can decide games even when he's playing "bad". Ronaldo has evolved into a goalscorer, while Messi is a creator and a goalscorer. If you look at statistics, for example most chances created or succesful dribbles etc., Messi destroys Ronaldo. Even when Messi is not touching the ball, he influences the game substantially because of defenders focussing on marking him, which would give other players more space.
