Well adios to Notre Dame's playoff hopes .They were slim to begin with, but the 38-36 loss to Stanford eliminates whatever chance they had. Is it now time for Notre Dame to join a conference?

Only if its a power 5 conference... Going to the MAC or the Sun Belt wont do them any good at all if they want to compete for big bowl games, which would be the only reason I could see for why they would want to join a conference

Well it would be dumb for them to join anything other than a power 5 conference. I doubt a school that draws as much revenue as Notre Dame would join the MAC or C-USA. They'd probably join either the ACC or Big Ten. I think it'd make more since to join the Big Ten, especially due to geographical reasons and they could continue rivalries with Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue, but since they already are in the ACC in other sports that's the conference they'd most likely join.

But Michigan state and Purdue aren't rivals and they just discontinued the series with Michigan

Notre Dame and Purdue are rivals. Their first meeting was in 1896 and they've met a total of 86 times, not to mention both universities are located in Indiana.

Michigan State and Notre Dame are also rivals. They play for the Megaphone Trophy and first met in 1897. Not to mention they had that game of the Century showdown in 1966.

And my point is if Notre Dame joined the Big Ten, they could resume their rivalries with all 3 opponents.

It has always been time. They could join the Big 12 with BYU and have a nice conference. Lets see.

North
-Notre Dame
-Oklahoma
-West Virginia
-Kansas State
-Iowa State
-Kansas

South
-Texas
-Baylor
-TCU

I'd replace Notre Dame with Houston and have them in the south. BYU could be in the north. This would also save the BYU Utah rivalry since Utah wants the Cougars to play in a conference.

When all the shifts were happening I actually thought BYU and Louisville were coming, but the Big 12 didn't make a move. I'd thought of Cincinnati and Houston, but they made no move on them either. I do wonder who they would go after if they ever were to actuallymake a move.

I think Houston is almost guaranteed. They recently built a new football stadium and their basketball arena is new as well. Their training facilities were updated so it seems like a good recruiting destination.

Hi birdland. Did you notice my Sooners, who were left for dead, are now in the college football playoff and favored to win the whole thing by Vegas. (opossum eating grin)

Alabama should be the favorite.

Now now birdland. Should they be the favorite over Ole Miss?

Should Oklahoma be favored over Texas? And Texas lost to 3-9 Iowa State... ouch.

Iowa State is from a power 5 conference. Memphis is a JV highschool team.

Memphis is 9-3 and ranked most of the year. Iowa State is 3-9 and finished 1-7 in conference. Nobody on this planet can seriously think Iowa State is better than Memphis.

Well adios to Notre Dame's playoff hopes .They were slim to begin with, but the 38-36 loss to Stanford eliminates whatever chance they had. Is it now time for Notre Dame to join a conference?

It has always been time. They could join the Big 12 with BYU and have a nice conference. Lets see.

South
-Texas
-Baylor

I'd replace Notre Dame with Houston and have them in the south. BYU could be in the north. This would also save the BYU Utah rivalry since Utah wants the Cougars to play in a conference.

I can. Remember undefeated Hawaii that everyone screamed was robbed of playing for the national title. They made a BCS bowl and got beaten by 600 points. Big difference between the American Athletic Conference and Power Five football every week.
