Anyone here download via Usenet? I just got an Astraweb account for $11/month and I'm maxing out my connection downloading a 44GB Blu-ray rip of Gran Torino. Highly unlikely I'd be able to get that via torrent, and even if I could I doubt I'd be able to completely saturate my connection.

Oh and to all you that asked why I need so much HDD space. Because 44GB Blu-ray rips.

Then the question becomes ... why do you need 44GB Blu-ray rips in the first place?

Because I have an HD TV and it's resolution is 1920x1080. I watch movies on it. Why would I want to watch something at a lower resolution?

indicating that a 20Mbps cap is restrictive.
Enjoy spending even more on your piracy due to needing a much faster connection than you ordinarily would.

$139.95/month

It's split amongst 16 people though so I pay ~9/month. The other people aren't "good" with computers so they don't use much of the bandwidth. On a good day I can get 6 MBps down, that's 6000KBps.

That's a tiny bit cheaper than the "Ultimate High Speed" package that is offered by my ISP, which is 50Mbps, which is $145 CDN.

I'm stuck with my tiny 14Mbps package.

That's not tiny at all, at least not compared to the average US home. Most people I know are paying upwards of $50 a month for 3-7 Mbps lines.

I know, it was sarcasm, though $50 for 7 Mbps? I pay $40 for mine.... overpriced much?

No, I don't believe in a god. It's just what I know as the convention for the superlative term for "amazing".
