They sometimes seem like an additional expense but a lot of retail stores offer them in addition to the manufacturer's warranty often offering extended coverage and loaner computers in case they take time to fix them. If you do buy them, why do you do it? If now, why not?

For an extra couple hundred dollars I got the 'apple care plan' on my lap top... I generally don't buy warranties, but on an expensive computer it really is a good idea. Pretty much everything is covered for its lifetime, and during the first year I think, it would be entirely replaced for any defect.

I've bought many Apples and many warranties, and never had to take advantage of them once. I'll probably stop paying the extra money.

If you know what your doing with a computer, you'll never need to use the warranty. I know what I'm doing with my computer. I never need to utilize a warranty :P

On a MAC its probably worth it because you can't fix it yourself....

I got a 2 year on my tablet for $50. Small price to pay for not having to worry. If it drops or falls in water they will cover it.

I didn't, the warranty for my tower was going to be 200, but I figured I could replace any single component of it for less than 200 so there wasn't much of a point.
