It appears the technology section needs to be bumped again...
So I figured I'd create a forum of the first thing that came to mind.
So post what you think are the "Greatest inventions of 20th Century".

Some random great inventions of the 20th century...

Synthetic rubber
The calculator
The artificial heart

There really are a whole bunch of things that could be put on the list... I just chose random stuff... but if I were to pick an actual top 5, the computer chip would easily be one of them...

UM, I think "refrigeration" of all types eclipses all 20th century inventions. It has done more to improve the quality of life except for mabepenicillin. Post it notes? Are you firkin serious!
It's not your views that divide us, it's what you think my views should be that divides us.

If you think I will give up my rights and forsake social etiquette to make you "FEEL" better you are sadly mistaken

Interesting fact, I am a descendant of the Frisbie name, my great great great grandparents were the Frisbie's of the Frisbie pie company who's pie tins were thrown around kids and students at the university of Connecticut.

But my vote is for the internet.

The automobile.

This invention single handily brought our world together. Now, something that is 20 miles away that would have taken all day to travel to now takes 15 minutes.

This was the first step to globalization.

Good choice.. The automobile is certainly hugely significant.. Although some say globalization began with Marco Polo, long before the automobile.

Refrigeration is huge. Good call.
And no, I wasn't serious. But post-it-notes are still awesome.

The automobile was a 19th Century invention. ... Karl Benz generally is acknowledged as the inventor of the modern automobile.[16]...An automobile powered by his own four-stroke cycle gasoline engine was built in Mannheim, Germany by Karl Benz in 1885, and granted a patent in January of the following year ... http://en.wikipedia.org...

Also, the telephone, camera, electric power, and the light bulb were all pre-1900.

The smartphone is a 21st century invention.

I'm going with the Internet as the greatest invention of the 20th century. Computers, the airplane, radio, television, and antibiotics are high on the list.
