Ok, I have a problem that prevents me from hearing vocals properly on my iPod. The headphones work perfectly; though I hear a faint echo with the vocals.
The instrumentals are great, but I want to be able to hear the vocals.

1. I tried the equalizer
2. I tried re synching the iPod
3. I tried resetting it.

None of the above worked.

Did you try changing headphones? (No matter what you say, they could be the problem). Is there a problem with your iPod? Did you bring it to an Apple store?

Don't have any other headsets.

No problems.

Borrow a pair from a friend.

That's what they said, or that's what you say?

Also, are you going insane? Hearing things which are not there is a sign of insanity?
