So the brand new laptop I had just bought in December of 2012, is now broken. First I dropped it, tripping over a wire in the dark cracking the screen. That lost me my touch screen abilities. Then 2 months ago my touch pad mouse went out, so I had to by a wireless mouse to plug into the USB. Then just an hour ago, for some reason my charger completely stopped working. MY laptop is now out of batteries, and I don't even know where to begin fixing it. Instead of paying out my @ss to get all these malfunctions fixed, I think it would just be worth it to me to buy a new one. I want something good, like this one was before I dropped it (lol).

Any recommendations? Price range is under 1000$ (preferably under 600).

What are you gonna use it for?

If you won't game on it, I really assume any laptop will be good for regular home use.

Well, it depends on the usage of your laptop, if you want to keep up with the gaming market, you have to pay a lot of $$ and I won't recommend a laptop as a gaming console. So just buy one for your routine activity, and for this usage most of new laptops are the same, only some features differ and also the shape and visual appearance.
I had Dell before, I really liked it until I demanded more CPU, so I went for i7 laptops and among them the best fitted one with my budget was Lenovo Y560: 750Gig, 4Gig, 1Gig dedicated and powerful Intel i7 CPU with 4 core and 8 threats. But after 3 years, I faced an ugly issue, it just freezes and I have to shut it down forcefully and after searching a lot in internet and testing a lot of things, I figured it is the heating problem and mostly because of CPU overclocking. But then I lower CPU usage and the problem is solved. When buying a new laptop I advice not to buy an i7 CPU since the cooling technology of laptops is not as advanced as the new high speed developing devices. I think the best CPU could be i3 or i5 at most, because the temperature won't allow you to use 100% of it.

You have to be more specific about what your looking for, here are 2 good deals that I've come across recently:

What size?

If you don't mind AMD, this is pretty good deal.

HP Silver 15.6" ENVY TouchSmart 15-j009wm Laptop PC with AMD Elite Quad-Core A8-5550M Accelerated Processor, Touchscreen and Windows 8 Operating System

http://www.walmart.com...

Maybe the processor is not as good as it's Intel brothers, but its graphics make up for that.

Thanks guys, but I already got an Acer Chromebook a while ago. I'll keep the advice in mind if I ever need a new one.

Chromebook? You serious? Those things are overpriced!

You can get a Windows Notebook for around the same price with a lot of actual hard disk space and double the specs!
