Pip pip, Chaps!

I wanted to share this dandy little plugin for the firefox broswer with you all

https://addons.mozilla.org...

Lightbeam shows you which 3rd party companies are tracking you and provides basic information on these trackers (there are between 4-7 on DDO!).

If you want to greater anonymity for yourself there are a couple of other plugins you can just install right away with no fuss!

1) Trackmenot: Submits random search queries to search engines to allow your searches to get lost in the crowd! https://addons.mozilla.org...

2) DoNotTrackMe: actively blocks the very companies revealed by lightbeam from tracking you! As well as -all- metadata fed through Facebook 'like' buttons on any webpage! https://addons.mozilla.org...

3) Maskme: masks your email when entering it into submission forms on webpages to prevent 3rd party ne'er do-wells from tracking said email and using it for spam: https://addons.mozilla.org...

Hope you find all this rather fascinating!

Tor is a bit advanced for your average dandy, these plugins just allow the everyman to anonymise themselves a little bit more.

The software might be advanced, but the user-interface is no more complicated from what I have experienced. It's just a lot slower than Firefox, since it has to bounce your IP everywhere.

Now browsing the deep webs for which the browser is well-associated with is quite user-unfriendly.
