My friend, for some reason or another, still plays her PS2 and has had some trouble with it.

She says that the system will not recgonize any game or movie that she tries to play. But she says that when she tries to play Madden and leaves it in the system for ten-fifteen minutes it will recgonize it.

Any ideas as to whats wrong?

Also, she says that the PS2 spent 2 months in the trunk of her car sometime starting in September.

Has she tried cleaning the CD-reading hardware?

That's what I told her to do, but i'm not sure if she has. If figured it would be something simple like that, but the thing with Madden threw me.

Tell her to sell her PS2 as a custom mod on Ebay, use the money plus a little more to buy a PS3 that is backward compatible with PS2 games, and play her games there.

There are no PS3 models that are backward compatible anymore - only the older 60-80 GB models did that. Sony figured they could make more money by keeping the systems separate.

thats why i say to buy a PS3 that is backward compatible. There are a couple out there which people are selling in favor of the Slims.
