Just finished the design. I was aiming for an artsy, minimalist sort of style.

I plan on posting some of my fiction on there. Maybe some YouTube videos later.

Anyway, what do you guys think about the design? Any comments or suggestions?

Too much black and white, too little colour. Very unexciting. Also, may be hard to read with the black and white background.
Pizza. I have enormous respect for Pizza.

Oh, by the way, if you comment, please tell me if you have a wide monitor or not. Thanks.

Hmmmm... how would you suggest I improve it? I was going for minimalism, so that the focus would be my writing.

I have a regular screen, and I thought it was alright, though you should add a bit more colour. Even a slight tone to the links or to the odd shapes in the bottom left would perk it up a bit.

I thought it was good... Definitely stick to the minimalist thing.

Your title though is being run through by your border... and I have a wide monitor (I think)

also, I do not like example sentences.
"He who does not know how to put his will into things at least puts a meaning into them: that is, he believes there is a will in them already."

Metaphysics:
"The science.. which deals with the fundamental errors of mankind - but as if they were the fundamental truths."

That was intentional.

I found it bothersome.

Normal screen.

Minimalist is fine, gives it a newspaper feel, though I'd watch you don't stray on the side of boring.

If your vertical bars are to double as a border between your links on the left then I'd suggest narrowing the width. The font too, is probably too large.

font-family: Georgia, Times;
website

I died a little on the inside.

Ever wonder why you don't see any good-looking sites with serif fonts? Because they don't look good on websites.

Updated: http://musingsofjoe.com...

Changes:
- Made font Arial
- Made the title overlap look more intentional
- Tweeked the logo (by the way, does anybody get what it represents?)
- Made the black lines that go ad infinitum thinner.

Now it looks kinda like the title is resting on a 2d plane...

If you were able to erase the Vertical border that is within that "plane" (and the one for the lowere horizantal border) it would make it look like the vertical border is going behind it, and the horizantal ones are kinda like shelves.

that would prolly go good with the whole shapes thing...

but then, I don't know if you can do that??
