Technically you did. Someone asks for help to download something illegally, which is a violation of the rules of this site. You helped him.

Sharing or distributing illegal copies is illegal. It is not only if you gain profit.

No problemo my man. Limewire was for noobs anyway.

1. Download and install utorrent --->http://www.utorrent.com...
2. Download movies/tv/games shows -->http://btjunkie.org...
3. Download e-books ---->http://greylib.net...
4. Download music
A. Install - --->https://addons.mozilla.org... ---->http://www.formatoz.com...
B. Download Youtube video with song
C. Convert video to MP3 using Format Factory
D. Enjoy

also Youtube way is the safest in terms of getting caught. If you don't give a sh*t then use http://btjunkie.org... which searches all torrent trackers. You can also use http://www.isohunt.com... but you have to use it with proxies so btjunkie is currently the best one IMO

Downloading pirated music does violate the DMCA, but these sites do have legitimate uses, so it's not exclusively illegal activity.

As of December 2005, the FBI has authorized use of the FBI Anti-Piracy seal and warning by members of the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), and the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), subject to each member entering into a formal Uniform Authorization Agreement. Association members should contact the MPAA, RIAA, SIIA, or ESA for more information.

Now we are evaluating the licensing arrangements we have with members of these associations with a view towards permitting the broadest possible public use of the seal by all individuals and businesses with a copyright interest. Please check this web page periodically for updates on the status of this initiative.

In the meantime, it is perfectly fine for anyone, without FBI approval, to use the following generic language on material protected under U.S. copyright law: "Warning: The unauthorized reproduction or distribution of this copyrighted work is illegal. Criminal copyright infringement, including infringement without monetary gain, is investigated by the FBI and is punishable by up to 5 years in federal prison and a fine of $250,000."

The only way you can get away with this is saying it in terms of theoretical language. For example, one could safely say, "Of course wouldn't download music, as it's so wrong, immoral, and illegal. I'm merely researching the matter for a project of mine. Lately, many torrents such as Limewire have been taken down. Do any of you know of any torrents which I could hypothetically use for my project?".

Pirate Bay through Miro.

As far as this "isn't this illegal", it all depends. For all we know he could be wanting an easier download for Creative Commons or Fair Use material. But otherwise, Peer2Peer and torrent downloading is not much worse than the GameStop model of video game sales, or renting DVDs, or showing a movie to a large gathering of people in your own home. And unlike the former two, most people don't torrent for money, they do so for their own personal use. Legally speaking if companies like GameStop and Blockbuster can resell and resell used products without paying dues (I think Blockbuster may pay some dues for the right to rent movies but I'm positive GameStop doesn't) to make virtually infinite product on this property and not get so much as a slap on the wrist, then how can you honestly punish individual people who download small amounts for personal use only? Is it stealing - well, no. It's sharing. When you loan a CD to a friend, is that friend stealing from the person who made it? They're listening to it without paying for it aren't they? GameStop sells used games, giving money to people who didn't create it and then selling them back when GameStop didn't create it either. Torrenting is just sharing. It's obviously more complicated since it's engrained in your computer, but it's honestly not much different. I doubt anyone in this generation can admit that they have never burned a friends CD which is the same concept.

But now I'm just ranting. The point is, Pirate Bay is based in a country where its form of torrenting is not entirely illegal therefore my suggestion is sound.
