Should debate be a required high school course (required of all students to graduate)? http://www.debate.org...

Assuming that it is not in the public high schools of the U.S., WHY IS IT NOT a required course?

What reasons can you think of why IT IS NOW NOT a required course?

Why should it be required?

- Increased voter turnout
- Better informed public on political issues

Why it shouldn't?

- A student shouldn't be required to do anything
- Debates require well formed arguments, and thus, can occupy alot of a students time
- Intensive debating studying means we must debating in a test tube and teach it as a theory.

You'd make all course voluntary?

Courses, attendance, school funding...
First and current President of DDO. Or dictator, I don't really care.

If you aren't prepared to kill for something, you shouldn't make a law about it.

I agree that debate shouldn't be mandatory; however, I'd debate you on this if you'd like.
