So drafter, what do you suppose happens when the cop, ld, vig, and tracker all role claim?
This is a loaded question based upon the premise that we should get 4 such claims. I will answer no such questions.
Also character claim please
Frere Andre
There are around 4 noobs, and based on you reasoning, we should pressure them all for role claims. We could potentially out 4 power roles, then what? Its always a bad idea to role claim dp1
Vmpire, character claim please. You're the last one
So you only want 1 person to role claim?
Yes.
What's the point of a role claim, it doesn't assist town and only tells mafia who to kill
1. If the newb is mafia it forces them to either spin a mafia role as being town or forces them to fake claim and get CC'd. That is, if they're mafia, it puts them at risk of getting caught = PRO TOWN.
2. If the newb is town and it is a good role, then it gives other roles (Doctor/Watcher) a solid target and reduces the pool of suspects, helping other roles (Cop/Tracker) hone in on mafia. It also allows the newb to benefit from the collective experience of the town as to how best to use that role = PRO TOWN.
3. If the newb is town and it is not a really powerful role, then it still reduces the pool of suspects for Cops/Trackers as well as reducing the pool of more powerful roles so Doctors and Watchers and such don't waste their powers = PRO TOWN.
Yes, we also risk outing a role we don't really want outed (BP, DOC) but there is risk in ANY AND ALL STRATEGIES so discounting a strategy simply because it has a risk demonstrates a fundamental lack of understanding of this game.
More experienced players are expected to know what roles should be kept hidden and which roles are are safe to let be known, but we do not grant newbs the benefit of that doubt because, more likely than not, if they're mafia, they will slip when pressured and, if they're town, they won't know how to use their role effectively anyway. That's why we pressure newbs, and that's why we strongly encourage they participate in beginner games first.
You keep suggesting we just crumble this DP up and throw it into the town when, if you were town, you should treat every DP that you are alive as a gift that should be utilized to its full potential.
Character claims are merely data, not information. They have no meaning or value, collecting them and only them is a waste of time. The town needs
information. And, at this point, roles are the only information to be had.
Now, we, apparently, already have a couple of roles, so I might as well
Unvote. VTNL But I will be reapplying my pressure first thing next phase.
Now, please present your convincing argument as to why we should have completely and utterly wasted this DP.
