According to Christian theology, that states Jesus is God, this is true. Incest is looked down upon in Christianity, yet Jesus mated with his own mother to give birth to himself. He also sent himself to be sacrificed, and then asked himself why he forsake himself.

Do the Christians out there agree with this, and do you find it rather confusing?

Xenu did it.
"Let me tell you the truth. The truth is, 'what is'. And 'what should be' is a fantasy, a terrible terrible lie that someone gave to the people long ago. The 'what should be' never did exist, but people keep trying to live up to it. There is no 'what should be,' there is only what is."

What branch of Christianity claims that Jesus mated with his mother to give birth to himself?

I think Geo's point is that Christians who believe the dogma of the Trinity, maintain that God, Jesus and The Holy Spirit are one entity (as well as 3) and the Gospels describe Mary being impregnated by The Holy Spirit.

Yea... for some reason I was channelling the slightly sensible Islamic version.

One wonders why a mother was needed in the first place.

The Bible doesn't say Jesus is God. As for the Holy Ghost using its power to impregnate Mary, it doesn't mean that it impregnated her like we humans do. It's complete nonsense. It just means that the Holy Ghost used the power God gave it to make Mary pregnant without a father to the child.

This is according to the Bible.

Of course Jesus was a God. You know whole 'Father, SON and holy spirit' thing?

But I mean c'mon; Mary was a babe.
