Sleep mode ain't working

I had a virus on my computer. SO I download AVG. The virus goes away, but now my computer won't go into sleep mode. Checked my USB roots and that to make sure everything was in sleep mode.

I use Vista. Suggestions?

You can't clean a compromised system by patching it.
