Has anyone heard that Google scrubs the internet? I heard this on the radio in passing but haven't heard much else about it. Of course i tried Googling it and came up with nothing ;-). The assertion is they are controlling the information that is on the web and are able to pull out stories and stats as they wish.
Any conspiracy theorists here?

11/1/2010 11:05:20 AM Posted: 2 years ago Well, the use of spiders and bots means that they can essentually bump up news that they like to the top, and bury news that they don't like to the bottom. However, they cannot simply get rid of it. And they wouldn't have any control over search results of Ask, Yahoo, Bing, or any of the others.
Only 44% of internet users used Google last month (it is the largest search engine, but not a monopoly or anything). Where Yahoo (ranked 3rd in the US for all websites) was at 26% last month, and MSN (ranked 12th in the US) was at 10%. http://www.alexa.com...# http://www.alexa.com...# http://www.alexa.com...# Please vote - http://www.debate.org... Militarian Excessive Free Speech Racism Homosexuality Illegal stuff. Google is liberal anti conservative censorship machine. I can't find any reasonable irreligious argument against homosexuality via google. The above are topics that I've noticed google censor in the past. They are almost always searches on the conservative side that i come up dry, but if i search on the other side i get tons of material. I have similar complaints about Wiki. |

I am voting for Innomen because of his intelligence, common sense, humility and the fact that Juggle appears to listen to him. Any other Presidential style would have a large sub-section of the site up in arms. If I was President I would destroy the site though elitism, others would let it run riot. Innomen represents a middle way that works, neither draconian nor anarchic and that is the only way things can work. Plus he does it all without ego trips. |

11/2/2010 7:51:22 AM Posted: 2 years ago The reason that links don't come up is likely not because of Google but because of the actual website.
Google basis your search based on how relevant your search is according to words provided by the website. Each website provides say "keywords" that are re-directed to google and used in the search. Most websites simply include the entirety of their web page... but some are not that smart. Hence after that google aligns the links in order of most popular. Less popular links fall to the bottom and eventually drift back pages. Now does google set up bots and macros to go through and ensure that the pages they want at the top are the most popular? idk |
