Negotiations for the TPP agreement should be abandoned

Welcome one and all to the grand finals of the second ELO tournament. Special thanks to Noumena for setting things up, Raisor for suggesting an interesting subject as well as agreeing to the final motion and everybody else who competed for making things fun. Extra-special thanks to anybody that votes. Just try to remember to be fair and constructive if you can. The TPP agreement is a little acronym for the Trans-Pacific Strategic Economic "Partnership", which is basically a free trade deal. A...
That we should pay people to donate blood

Thanks Yraelz for agreeing to debate this topic with me. My model in this debate is simple. People who give their blood to registered blood-banks in order to help save those in need ought to be given some kind of recompense, notwithstanding reasonable restrictions that for the most part already exist in blood-banks (ie you have to be a certain age, you can't give blood too often, you can't have deadly blood-diseases etc). This incentive would be funded via the blood-bank themselves, who are t...

Before we begin, I would like to clarify the terms, namely that: Morality - What we consider to be right or wrong Secularism - actions and thinking that are derived from a non-religious standpoint. Whoever decide...

The topic refers to the recent program of selling state assets by the New Zealand government. Outside of New Zealand this is not a well-discussed topic, but important background information for those not familiar with it can be found here: http://www.3news.co.nz/The-Governme...
Resolved: Rehabilitation Should Be Valued Above Retribution

Burden of proof
The BoP rests neither fully on myself or my opponent but we should each make a case. I for rehabilitation and con for retribution.

Retribution: punishment enacted due...
Composition Contest Rematch

This is a rematch between larztheloser and I for the composition contest we had: http://www.debate.org/debates/Composition-Contest/1/ The rules will be pretty much the same, and here they are: In the first round, larz should give me a theme to work off of. We'll then give each other our themes in each round. Compositions must abide by the themes, to help assure that each one is made from scratch. Our entries should be no less than 1:30, and should be embedded to the page from YouTube. A...
