| Beliefs: | I think Jimi Hendrix sums it up with, "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace." Interestingly enough, my strong Christian background deters me from the Republican party. I see them as corrupt, greedy, and money-seeking. Though I believe strongly in separation of church and state, my spirituality influences me to be very liberal in the political realm. I've been the student council president, the cheerleader, the band-nerd, the "mean girl", the hippy, the vegetarian, the conservative bible study group leader. I've many life experiences that have helped me become an open-minded and well-rounded individual. |

Scripture Forbids Christmas Trees

Biblical scripture expressly forbids the use of Christmas Trees. So, why is it okay for Christians to directly violate scripture, especially in the name of honoring the birth of Jesus Christ? Here is the specific verse: Jeremiah 10: 1-9 1 Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the Lord, "Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven, for the heathen are dismayed at them. 3 For the customs of the people are vain...
A true "Conservative Republican" Would Favor the Legalization and/or Decriminalization of Marijuana

Let me begin by saying I am NOT debating whether or not marijuana should be legalized. That can be a whole other debate, if need-be. What I AM stating is that right now, a typical Republican would say "Marijuana should not, and most likely never will be made legal." This defeats the principles of conservativism. Conservatives desire as little government control as possible. This is why they are for gun-rights, against raising taxes, against national health care, etc. Why, then, should t...
Dennis Kucinich is the only Democratic presidential candidate who can beat a Republican in 2008.
Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting evil. I'm writing in Dennis Kucinich when I vote on November whether he is on the ballot or not. He is the only candidate that can beat a Republican. The rest are weak on progressive issues and any progressive values they speak out about will get trashed by Republicans. Republicans will do to Obama, Clinton, Edwards, Dodd, Richardson, and Biden what was done to Kerry. They will put any candidate other than Dennis on the defensive for much of...
national health care

I am curious why anybody would oppose national health care. As a nursing student, I am in the hospital on a routine basis, and have a really difficult time knowing the financial debt that people have to deal with once they get discharged. What's worse is when people get turned away due to a lack of sufficient insurance. Why would any person oppose the idea of national health care, especially since we are the only industrialized nation that does not offer this to our citizens? All of the othe...
