About Me:Currently in High School (but I won't tell you where haha). Invest in the NYSE, SWX (Swiss Stock Exchange) and Tokyo Stock Exchanges: investing is my passion. I am extremely stringent with my standards for anything, probably why I like Switzerland and all its goods. I participate in Model UN and love it. Even though I live in the U.S. I speak and write the Queen's English (less the accent). I'm extremely talkative and spell coöperate with a diaereses. That's pretty much all there is to know.
Activities:Auto Racing, Billiards, Golf, Hiking, Racquet Sports, Skiing, Tennis, Walking
Beliefs:Economically Conservative, academically elitist (believe the most educated and worthy of office deserve it; however, support research in the scientific fields. Pro choice, pro embryonic stem-cell research, pro free market capitalism, strongly against homosexual marriage (but moderately supports "civil unions"). Believes John Maynard Keynes is probably the smartest guy ever (he was clever certainly): yet supports stabilizing the trade deficit. Also a firm believer in the writings of Niccolo Machiavelli. I think the Oxford English Dictionary 2nd ed. with the three additions is the best collection of printed pages in the English language.
Quotes:"The successful people of this world take life as it comes. They just go out and deal with the world as it is."

The ends justify the means: Is Machiavelli correct?

I just had to post this debate because it is something I feel strongly about. Your challenge, as my opponent, is to disprove this statement. Before you choose to contend, understand this. We are debating whether or not the ends/results are a legitimate way of justifying one's means to achieve this. We are not here to discuss what society thinks of these means, or even legality: this is a political-philosophy debate at its finest. With that, I open up the invitation to this debate to everyone, al...

Banning Gay Marriage is Unconstitutional

Miserlou

First, let me clear up a few definitions. I'm using "Gay marriage" as an umbrella term for all rights pertaining to homosexuals, such as civil unions, and the abolition of discriminatory laws. The argument is, regardless of whether you believe in gay marriage, it would be unconstitutional for the United States to ban it. Almost all of the arguments against gay marriage are religious; people claim that it is immoral and against the Bible. But the Constitution forbids passing laws that favor a...

Federally-Held Corporations are the best method for administering social programs.

A Federally-Held Corporation would allow the government to both cut taxes and provide greater social services for a lesser cost. Let's take health care for example: The Corporation would operate like an insurance company. Every citizen would pay in a premium and then receive services. However, the rates would be the lowest possible due to the fact this Corporation only needs to cover its own operational costs. In addition due to its independent nature of the Corporation it would be under...

Outsourcing to countries such as China has decreased the quality of goods.

Pick up a swiss army knife and then one of those multi-tools made in China and I can assure you the former will be the desirable one. Of the things you purchase made in China how many actually will last you generations like the American and European made goods of the pre-"made in China" epoch. There are a few arguments that you can make for outsourcing goods to China: most notably that costs can be decreased and that we can reduce pollution by producing everything there. Sounds decent, right...

sex before marraige is wrong

honestly, i'm not sure where i stand on this issue. my religous upbringing has messed me up. i could see saying fornication, even when it's done as responsibly as possible, is inherently bad. the feelings of permanency that one has for another, indicates we're to save ourselves for that one other person. and the guilt associated with fornication, is also an indication that it's wrong. of course, these are just my feelings, and i could see a rational statement being put otherwise. given b...
