Infrastructure is important, we need to be functioning at our best to get back up off the mat of what a lot of the previous decade did to us economically. If anything, a slight increase in infrastructure spending makes sense, drop 1 or 2% off the absurdly high defense budget and put it into infrastructure.
It's obvious from the random bridge collapses and the crumbling roads that our infrastructure is crumbling. Spending on things that we all use is appropriate spending. There is no arguing that having infrastructure that works is good for all Americans. Despite what some would argue is frivolous spending, it did get more people employed and fixed some problems that could no longer be put off.
