Alcohol ban: Is prohibiting alcohol important to fighting crime?

  • As Long As We Don't Go Too Far

It would be a great idea to prohibit and/or limit alcohol consumption in public places. I guarantee it would lower the amount of car accidents and fatalities that we see from over consumption all the time. However taking it too far would have the opposite effect. Prohibition caused much more crime as it made something as simple as having a drink into a criminal act.

  • Prohibition Round Two Won't Stop Crime

While many crimes do involve someone that's intoxicated, banning alcohol won't help authorities fight crime and reduce crime rates. In reality, criminals would probably commit more crimes without alcohol being legal. More restrictions could be placed on the sale and consumption of alcohol, though, which might produce some favorable results.
