  • Yes they are.

    A famous actor can make in the millions for just one movie. Although not all actors make this amount, many of them do. They are definitely overpaid. They make millions just to learn a few lines and have some fun. Many sets are in exotic locations and are like a vacation themselves.

  • No wonder the industry is so hypocritical and corrupt!

    If by "actor" you mean Hollywood A-listers and TV stars, then yes, they are GROSSLY overpaid. $X Million for just one film/show appearance? What a load of smeg! What about the new guys trying to get a break? They get slanted down because of their status as neophytes. Overpaid salaries are just the surface - there's also getting representation and joining unions and all that jazz. Why does something so (seemingly) simple have to be so damn complex in real life? I refuse to watch Hollywood films for this very reason - I prefer independent features.

  • Actor's don't deserve their 7 digit salaries, because it's the people behind the scenes doing the work!

    They just have to be at the film location and sit in a dressing/makeup chair all day long. They are talented and that is their asset. However, if they are not coming back with a profit to the people that invested in them then most definitely the money should be going to the people doing all the hard labor. Some of them even get greedy and ask for even more money than was planned. When are they even going to spend all of it?

  • They are overpaid!

    Think of your favorite teacher,nurse or anyone who works hard everyday to make a living their work is more important than movie fiction! But it goes un acknowledged and i rewarded in our culture,I don't think they are work the astronomical amounts of money they are paid! If you think about how little nurses are paid despite them Savin lives daily! It seems really unfair! Some of ten are even bad influences to us! How can people like this,get so much money!

  • Acting is incredibly difficult, but so is firefighting

    It often takes decades to get to a stable position in the film industry. In all roles, much less that of an actor.
    But no actor is worth $8 million for a few months of work (Kirsten Dunst; spiderman). Much less $16 million (Nichole kidman)!!
    I'm an animator, and I'm very aware of the strong cultural value of film and other "entertainment" industries. But the amount of worth that an EMT holds in relation to his contributions to society are exponentially greater than an actor. And yet he (or she) is rewarded with fractions (of fractions) of the amount that a big-name actor is paid.
    They're just spectacles. They have little actual value beyond their context.

  • Totally Overpaid! Hollywood's 10 Most Overpaid Actors http://www.pajiba.com/box_office_round-ups/hollywoods-10-most-overpaid-actors.php

    The movie industry and the actors are overpaid billions annually. It is a sad joke.
    ===========================================================
    The profits from a movie should be share by all the workers, even the janitor.
    ===========================================================
    And, what's funny, these overpaid actors claim to be for the people. They are full of BS, just greedy punks.
    =============================================================

  • Compare a few things

    So if I own a boat and the shore is on fire... Should I charge whatever I can get or what I always charge?

    In the winter peak season should slopes charge more for tickets?

    If I have a PhD in quantum mechanics, but I work as as a janitor... What should I get paid for?

    If I dig trenches all day everyday... My back and rest of body wont be good by 40 to 45... Should I get more money at younger years cause I can't work later?

    The list can go on...

    Get paid for what is fair.. Not what you can get away with... Get paid for what you do today not what you cant do tomorrow. .. Don't charge more because of emergency (just seems wrong), yes you should charge for odd hours...

  • They get paid a disproportionate amount.

    If you're getting paid millions, it must amount to some amount of significant utilitarian value to society. Entertaining the masses is definitely important, but there are various other professions which provide a significantly larger value to society and which require hundred times the amount of hard work and dedication. Paying actors should not be at the cost of such high income inequality.

  • No they are not.

    I feel that actors are not overpaid, as contractors their pay is determined by how much the market determines they are worth. Many actors work really hard for their job and spend months getting into character, there is a lot more to do than just learning their lines. As long as millions of people are buying tickets to their films then they will be paid lots.

  • Actors are not overpaid.

    No, actors are not overpaid. First of all, most of them work really hard and absolutely deserve the money they earn. But secondly, movies and television make a whole lot of money, so it makes sense that actors get paid a lot. Actors, directors, writers, etc. should all be paid a significant portion of the earnings of their work.

  • Really think about it.

    No, they are not overpaid think about how much work they do it is hard to memorize lines actions ect.. Really?? just think about getting mobbed everywhere you go. you can't even go on a walk without someone asking for a picture or will you sign this? so no they are not over paid!!!

  • Not at all

    The market determines what an actor is worth. If producers think it's worth it to pay actors as much as they do, then that's what actors are worth to those producers. And if people are willing to pay as much as they do for the movies they watch, then that's what those movies are worth.

  • No They're Not

    Acting is very hard to do and it is even more difficult to make it in that industry. Movies that they make are seen by millions of people around the world and bring in a lot of revenue. Therefore, I believe the pay that actors get is very much justified.

  • Think about it

    Take your favorite movie and put your spouse as the main character is it that great of a movie now? Actors make a movie not everyone has that skill. They memorize lines and actions. And what kills all arguments is we live in a free market which means we value their skill so the can control their pay.

  • No actors are not overpaid

    Sure they do get paid a lot money but they have to stay up all night like a final-writing university student learning lines, getting into characters and posing and filming in situations that would make a chameleon feel out of place. But movies like Twilight, now that was a terrible movie with overpaid actors, one with a good body, another with a twig like body and a girl with the least backbone I've ever seen or read since Fifty Shades of Gray. And their work is very delicate. It depends all on the public. If they hate it, then all the producers and sponsors work is for naught and they get blamed-even if the script was horrible-and they get put out of work. They have to come up with new ways to freshen up a script without offending anyone (if they are still not very famous) and being fired.

  • Capitalism Is the Main Reason

    Humans live for entertainment. We seek and crave entertainment. In this day and age, we are exposed to technology that allows us to find this entertainment we so desperately need. The multimedia business has, in recent times flourished in the due to the advancements of the Internet and television. The only reason they're paid so much is because of us. The consumers. How many of you have stood in line, anxiously waiting for a concert or a game? You most likely paid a good amount of money to get there. That money goes to the entertainment industry. It's all our fault. Supply and demand people. Like it or not. Entertainment carries our economy.

  • No Actors are not overpaid!!!!

    Actors are paid like a normal job cause producers spend tens of millions or sometimes hundreds of millions on a movie that only goes for a couple of hours so the actors have to look the part for their character and do whatever they have to do for the movie. When the movies go out to the cinemas the company who makes the films will get their money back in the first few days and then make hundreds of millions profit, sometimes make a billion so for actors who are the main part in the movies have an agent that negotiates what money they want to be in the movie. Cinemas that sell all the tickets get a percentage of the earnings of the film and then the company who made the movie have to pay all the workers of and in the movie including what the actor’s agreed too. Actors don’t get over paid because for example; say someone who owns his own business gets paid a few thousand dollars a day but then he has to pay the workers and the cost of things. Then there is movie companies who get hundreds of millions for every movie they do but then they got to pay the actors/crew and the cost of things which is tens of millions or sometimes a few hundred millions depending on what the movie is about.

We need socialism and everyone shares. No one is paid millions. Everyone gets food, and equal shelters (i.E., no more mansions, yachts, vacation homes, etc.), complete and free health care, (i.E., medical dental, eye care, etc.), complete old age age, free education for everyone. No more fancy cars, just simple cars that get great gas mileage. No more maids and servants, except for old people and the sick.

No more of these AHs paid millions in sports, TV, Movies, Music, corporations. Everyone helps everyone else and shares in all the profits. All natural resources belong to everyone and are shared equally. No more folks that just sit on their Arses in Texas, NM, and OK collecting oil and gas royalties just because they own the land. We the people of American own all the natural resources. Those resources existed before man walked on earth.
