Are all sex and nudity taboos rooted in Abrahamic religions like Christianity, Judaism and Islam?

Asked by: jtightlips24
  • There are common things such as

All three religions believe in One GOD and all have Single prophets, Christians believe the prophet Moses of the Jews, Muslims believe in Jesus and Moses and call Muhammad as the last prophet, not denying the divinity of Jesus and Moses.

All three religions have their divine books, all three believe in hell and heaven. So there re a lot of common things between the three

  • Some, Not All, Taboos Rooted in Religions

Going back to the ancient history of each of these three religions, there was lots of sex, drugs and rock-n-roll. Early Jews, Christians and Muslims were hardly saints--sex taboos were probably drawn up in response to the wild hooligans within each religion who were sexually free of inhibitions. Today, there are plenty of taboos against certain kinds of sexual acts in Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Perhaps more people should embrace the Hindu version of sex known as the Kama Sutra.

  • No, not all sex taboos are Judeo-Christian/Islamic.

Taboos about nudity and sex are worldwide phenomena. They may differ from culture to culture, but they are present. In Japan, even though nudity is more accepted, they have what appears to us an irrational modesty about pubic hair, especially after completely stripping. Chinese culture seems to be very family based, so I doubt that having sex out of wedlock is favored.
