Are Christians being persecuted in the world of today?

Asked by: applestoapples
  • Christians are being persecuted and bigoted for having different beliefs and holding strong to them.

There are many instances when Christians were persecuted in the world of today. Atheist are putting anti-Christian billboards up and saying that Christians are stupid for believing in God. Also Christians who believe that gay marriage is wrong are facing law suits for not catering to gay weddings. This is basically forcing Christians out of their beliefs and demeaning them for believing. We have freedom of religion.

  • Of course they are!

People are being persecuted for their beliefs all the time. Even at schools, we are not allowed to play Christian music because "it could be offensive to some people." It's music, it almost always shares an opinion/ view of something! Some could find the music offensive, but it is offensive to me when Miley Cyrus in, "Shake it off" says, oh my God. So by their definition, we should not be able to play "Shake it off," because it offends people like me. Furthermore, Christians are told that they cannot do things they are told to to in the Bible. There is also the entire controversy about the gay marriages and not catering to them, as well. And this is not even to mention the murder of Christians and Jews by radical Islamist terrorists (Al Qaeda, ISIS, etc.). Clearly, Christians are being persecuted in today's world, as are other groups.

  • I thought this question was about the Christians getting killed for their beliefs.

You have the recent mass shooting in Africa where the gun man asked who was Christians and then shot anyone who was Christian. You also have ISIS killing anyone with different religious beliefs. I don't know of many groups that actually crucifies people still but apparently ISIS does. Getting killed for your religion is a form of persecution and since there are Christian getting killed for their religious beliefs in the world, then by definition Christians are being persecuted in the world today.

  • It's extremely probable that a Christian is being persecuted in the world today.

It is also extremely probable that Christians are persecuting others in the world today. Christians are no more the victims as they stand the culprits. I'm not in favor of the church being sued, but I am in favor of stripping any federal recognition for those Christian marriages that believe gay marriage is wrong. Thus to better separate church and state. Thus to ensure your freedom is not infringed upon. Thus to ensure all civil unions are equal before the law.

  • Not in the US or any western nation or Australia, Japan, ect

In the middle east and africa yes. The Coptic Christian group is being killled and persecuted all over the place. But the rest of the world, no Christians seem to have it pretty i good. I daresay that they hold all the power in a lot of places. And if they don't they are persecuted they might feel like that but they're delusional

  • Yes and they should be

You expect me to leave christians alone when they want to outlaw 2 consensual adults being together? The hell is this? Aprils fools day? If you persecute gay people because of your shitty religion then you shouldn't be surprised when you get persecuted back, common sense not to mention hilarious, the oppressors oppress gay people then the oppressors get oppressed and then suddenly it's not fair! Get over it ,gay people had to deal with your oppression for YEEEEEARS now you get a taste of it.

  • Yes!!! It"s obvious!!!

Anyone who thinks that Christians are not being persecuted is of the highest level of stupidity. For those of you who chose "NO", ISIS is currently persecuting Christians in the most brutal ways which include being stuffed in cages and lit on fire, being beaten/tortured to death, and much more.

  • There's no doubt we are being persecuted, just like the good Lord said would happen.

Christian are often belittled and ridiculed in the media. There are not too many other social groups that have that distinction, except white Anglo-Saxon males.

For example, you can't say anything negative about Muslims, women, nor minorities, according to political correctness BS.

So it's not only possible to persecute Christians and get away with it, it's justifiable by way of political correctness, but it's actually becoming more and more popular in mainstream culture.

  • Christians are being persecuted in many countries.

It is 100% fact that Christians are being persecuted in the Middle East, India, and Pakistan. Therefore, it is absolutely factual that Christians are being persecuted. Regardless of Christians persecuting others, they too are being persecuted. While Christians are the largest religious group in the world, they are still targeted for attacks and persecution in many places.

  • Yes and no

In select places of the world, Christians are being persecuted and killed for their beliefs. However, in most places of the world they have it pretty good, and the more fanatical ones tend to be the ones persecuting people unlike themselves. My answer to this questions is both yes and no.

  • Not even close.

Christianity has a long and dark history of persecuting others for having different beliefs. To claim that they are being persecuted is laughable. Are they being tortured, arrested, imprisoned, sentenced to death, or burned alive? Not here. You call other people voicing their opinion of your faith persecution? Far from it.

  • The largest structure in the world? Really?

No, christians are the majority. It is nearly impossible oppress and persecute the majority. Christians are typically shoving their religion down peoples throats on street corners and put up a billboard in my town that said "atheists will go to hell" (with a bunch of other BS). Christians are not being persecuted. They simply are having power they once had removed from them and they don't like it. I'm sorry that people want equality, it sucks, i know.

  • It is Quite The Opposite

Christianity dominates Earth as a religion. Not all but most hate on and lobby to take the rights from gays and lesbians. Many of them cannot stand atheists and think they lack morals. Saying that serving a gay couple at a restaurant is getting your beliefs attacked, is like saying that Dunkin Donuts is harassing your dietary lifestyle when you are on a diet and one of their stores open up in your town.

  • The largest religion being persecuted?

Hell NO! People who are telling that ISIS are killing Christians in the most brutal ways need to study a bit more...ISIS are killing Muslims too. Nobody even messes with Christianity The most persecuted religion is Islam even though it looks they are persecuting everyone. Muslims are dying in Afghanistan (not extremists) , Syria (not extremists) , Yemen (not extremists) , Mynamar (not extremists). So many Muslims die in "collateral damage". Christians are not even close to being persecuted.

  • Depends on what you call persecution

If you call persecution being ridiculed for your beliefs and put separately than others the no way. Unless we're talking bout Africa and pets of Asia Christians have the majority and can pretty much rule very country (ex. Every president has followed some branch of Christianity). What Christians call "persecution" is not being able to stuff their religion down our throats and say we're going to hell without at least another person or two with the same belief system to stand up to them. Because Christians can't push us around by ore they want to yell their being persecuted.

The question is vaguely worded, every religion and every ideology is persecuted somewhere in this world.
