  • It is generally believed to be better for you.

Circumcising penises is generally believed by many doctors to be a little healthier for men. Mostly because of the closed flap it produces, it is better in keeping out bacteria which may be bad for your health. The tip of the penis is the most important part of the penis, and it is circumcision that keeps it a little cleaner and safer from bacteria.

  • Yes. Evidence supports this.

There is a lot of evidence that shows that circumcised men are healthier. Circumcision prevents a number of conditions such as phimosis, paraphimosis, and urinary tract infections among others. It also prevents bacteria from building up under the prepuce and it reduces the chances of getting sexually transmitted diseases.

It is so unfortunate that many people are posting without actually considering the question. The question does not ask whether it is right to circumcise a baby or whether it is your personal preference to be circumcised or intact. The question asks only about the potential health benefits or risks associated with circumcision. I personally prefer to be uncircumcised for sexual play, but I acknowledge that having a circumcised penis is much healthier. Additionally, there are people who may prefer circumcised penises.

This question is not about opinion or debate. It is about whether the scientific or statistical evidence supports the claim that circumcision is healthy or not.

  • Neater and cleaner.

My argument for circumcision is that it looks much better - an uncircumcised penis is so unattractive. I have no problems with sensitivity and most girlfriends have appreciated my being circumcised even in the UK where it is not so common. Why not just let people decide without these patronizing attitudes?

  • Not that bad.

I was circumcised as a baby, not being Jewish, but for health concerns.
I haven't had a health problem, concerning my genitals, ever. My girlfriend says she prefers it for sexual acts and the likes too. And not to cause an uproar, I personally think uncircumcised penises look weird.

  • Yes, circumcision is more healthful.

Circumcision is indeed better for mens' health, as well as their partners. Removing unwanted/unnecessary foreskin leads to a cleaner anatomy, and this can in turn lead to less chance of infection for a man, and for his sexual partners as well. It's widely accepted that sensation and sexual pleasure is unchanged with the removal of foreskin.

  • "Majority rules": 70% of men are uncircumcised. Foreskins are (=) to clitoral hood; which aren't cut. Circumcisions desensitize the penis. Results: loss of 2/3rds pleasure.

"Try" picturing your life with no eyelids. How do you think that would be? First of all, your eyes would be so dry you would always have to buy Visine (e.G., KY). You would get irritated, by bugs and all types of things constantly going in your eyes (e.G., scratches, bruises). Then, your eye would always remain irritated and infected (e.G., loss of sensitivity). Finally, you wouldn't really be able to enjoy the beauty of the sunlight, because it hurts your eyes and affect your vision (e.G., loss of pleasure). Take the hint! The "uncut" penis is self cleaning; up until the time it retracts [when ever you develop]. And from my experience, the woman love it because it requires less lubrication and the feeling s of pleasure are reciprocal (they see you enjoy it as much as they do). Truthfully, it was designed to keep people from enjoying sex, so much, and stop masturbation. Take the hint! The natural penis is better, just as the natural eye is better. Keep your eyelids and keep your foreskin; unless you hate getting styes (e.G., infection). They will help you more in the long run. The uncut penis is better for you & your partner. If you still have doubts, too bad. Be educated, stop being told what to do and keep it natural. OK?

Interesting fact: Most doctors don't have their children circumcised, what does that tell you? :) Don't do it!

Sorry, for those of you who had the decision made for you; but hey if you were wronged, don't repeat what was done to you. Spare your kids and educate others.

    -stay uncut!

  • Really, you really think its better to be circumcised?

If you're still not convinced, try this thought experiment. Imagine waking up tomorrow morning to find yourself tied to your bed and rendered mute, your naked genitals exposed to the harsh glare of hospital lights. Your parents have decided that some skin should be hacked from your penis; perhaps so you can be forced into their religion, perhaps because they don't trust you to clean yourself in the shower, or perhaps simply because they think your penis should look more like your father's.
If you don't like the thought of this happening to you, if this offends your belief in self-determination or the rights you have over what happens to your body, then how can you justify this practice being inflicted on infants?
Infant circumcision without medical justification should be called what it is – genital mutilation. Deliberately inflicting injury on a baby in order to enforce their conformity with a religion, or to satisfy their parents' views on what a penis should look like, is a sick act. It has no place in a modern society. Infant circumcision - regardless of gender - should be stopped.

READ THOSE AND THEN TELL ME ITS STILL OK TO DO THIS. IF YOU WOULDN'T DO THAT TO YOUR DAUGHTERS THEN WHY WOULD YOU DO IT TO YOUR SON'S?

  • The men from industrialized countries which do not circumcise are healthier, overall, than here in America, where most men are circumcised!

The foreskin has important functions throughout life, and requires very little maintenance. In infancy and early childhood, only the outside of it needs to be cleaned with the rest of the body. Later, it needs to be rinsed under during regular bathing. It takes about 3 seconds. Circumcised men should also wash their penises. At most, not having a foreskin saves them about one second per shower or bath.

The foreskin protects the head of the penis from drying out and building up layers of skin, which reduces sensitivity. If someone doubts that keeping something protected preserves sensitivity, you can do an easy experiment. Put a bandage on a finger and leave it there for a couple days. When you take it off, your finger will be noticeably more sensitive. You can do that with any body part and get the same results.

The foreskin also provides an important function during intercourse. The inner foreskin layer, and the glans, contribute moisture. The foreskin also prevents moisture from being pulled out of the vagina, where it can evaporate. Since the intact penis moves in and out of it's own sheath, there is less friction on the vaginal walls. Dyspareunia (pain during intercourse) is much less common with an intact penis!

As for HIV/AIDS, those who want to justify the circumcisions they had all ready been doing, looked to Africa. They found some "studies" that suggested that circumcised men who frequented AIDS infected prostitutes were less likely to become infected than intact men who did the same thing. Others found no difference, or the opposite, while others looked at how many of those infected men passed the virus on to their wives, and found that circumcised men were much more likely to infect their wives than intact men. But, they decided to bank on the ones that found what they were looking for. Then, they not only recommended that African men who use prostitutes have themselves circumcised, but that Americans should have their NEWBORNS circumcised! It would be appropriate for them to suggest that parents caution their sons against going to Africa and engaging in unprotected sex with AIDS infected prostitutes, but that is all!

Had they looked at the facts concerning HIV/AIDS in America, they would have seen that we boast both the highest rates of HIV/AIDS in the industrialized world AND, by far the most circumcised men! It would make much more sense to assume that circumcision INCREASES the spread of the virus.

  • "Do No Harm"

Do you honestly think that it is in good health to remove a functioning body part, not only:

-At a time that the associated diseases will almost never happen
-At a time that a baby cannot give its own consent or analyze the pros and cons
-At a place where many other diseases and sick people congregate
-Using a method that causes lots of blood loss
-Using a method that will cause lots of pain (the nervous system is fully developed at around 6 months.)

This should be a no brainer.

The foreskin function is identical to that of the eyelid- to preserve the flesh beneath and protect from weathering. Not only does it contain 20,000 (yes, 20,000) sensual nerve endings that are completely severed and can never be regained after cirumcision, it would've prevented the 15,000 you have left from being piled underneath a mountain of scar tissue and callice.

  • More than a piece of skin

The foreskin protects the glans just like the clitoral hood protects the clitoris. When you remove that protection, the glans becomes overly irritated and loses sensation. Many circumcised men complain about painful erections because they had too much skin cut off and their penis literally does not have enough skin to sustain the erection. Circumcision does not stop the spread of STDs (some studies even suggests that it increases it), does not stop infections, and does not prevent cancer. Women also suffer the consequences of circumcision. The foreskin allows easier penetration and gentle gliding. Because circumcised penises lost many nerves, there is lots of friction that can cause women to become dry, feel pain, and even bleed during sex. Overall, the foreskin is very misunderstood in America and the risks of circumcision far outweigh any benefits.

  • Too Many Risks

In some cases men LOSE their penis because of a botched surgery. A very, very modest decrease of the risk of certain infections is NOT worth that risk by a long shot. It is better to teach your kid to wash under his foreskin and when he is an adolescent teach him about safe sex and condoms. Also, NO it is not widely accepted that sensation and sexual pleasure is unchanged. In fact the foreskin has many sensory nerves in it that aid in sexual pleasure.

  • Missing parts is never good health

Foreskin feels REALLY good. Seriously, it's the best part.

The foreskin provides significant sexual functions. It makes sexual stimulation easier when a man keeps its 20,000 specialized pleasure-receptive nerve endings. The glans is kept supple and ticklish by the 24/7 protection the foreskin provides, and the slinking sleeve of mobile slack skin allows an exquisite frictionless gliding mode of stimulation that reduces abrasion for a man's partner as well.

Not one medical association on earth endorses forced circumcision. Proxy (parental) consent for any irreversible medical treatment is only ethical if waiting for the patient's own rational informed consent would lead to harm, and if non-destructive options are exhausted. Infant circumcision fails this test decidedly. There are ZERO supposed benefits of childhood circumcision that can't be easily realized by non-destructive means.
