  • Yes they are

They will ultimately save the world and feed all the staring people in other countries. They are a new and interesting idea that will help with many problems we as humans have created. I think they are overall a good idea and the will do more help than harm. A

  • Yes GMOs could save the world

Yes GMOs are very beneficial. I think we are just starting to scratch the surface of what they can do. Imagine being able to create enough food to feed everyone in the world and it costs you next to nothing. This could be the future power of GMOs in the world.

  • Feed The World

In Africa, there are thousands of people who are going hungry, Why? Because of other countries in Europe that prevent GMO's will not give it to them. There is lots of gm crops, but not all of them are getting around to the world. There are people who think that there are lots of diseases that come with GMO's, but there is absolutely no evidence of humans being affected. There was a study done on rats (they grew tumors when they ate gm food) but that study was dis approved for inaccuracy. Gmo's are completely safe and I think that we an benefit from them.

  • The first GMO was created in 1982 - and the world has ended 33 years later.

It's been 33 years - 33 years of testing, 33 years of expansion and study, 33 years of humanitarian efforts, and 33 years of the ignorant standing in the way of progress. In spite of that the rate of growth and usage for GMOs continues to rise. This is especially true in 3rd world countries who need this due to large populations and little farm-able land and/or water scarcity. The hope is to make available vitamin enriched crops that can bridge the gaps of poor diets. Unfortunately such things are being blocked by people with little knowledge and lots of fear.

    So here are some facts:

1.) Humanity has been altering the food they eat both animal and plant since the beginning of agriculture - don't believe me? Look up Kobe beef and the careful breeding lines they have.

Look up what corn is supposed to look like verse the yellow cob you're so familiar with. The only difference is how this altering is being done now - which is precision versus hoping for the best with cuttings and breeding. This saves money, time, and potential suffering for animals at the very least.

2.) There are multiple ways to introduce genes into various plants/animals - the most common way is similar to how artificial insulin is made in bacteria versus sheep. Which as a side-note is important. There are millions who take this form of insulin and if there were a danger here it should have shown up in them by now.

3.) There are many completely false rumors going around:

a.) extensive testing has been done
b.) GMOs can help the enviroment by reducing nitrogen leeching or the need for pesticides or how much of a type of waste an animal creates
c.) there has been only one case of a GMO growing outside of a potential zone and it had no disasterous effect on its location.

D.) they are not toxic anymore then other plants they are resistant to certain insects and weeds - plant that are generally already eaten

4.) It's been shown to be a god-given miracle for 3rd world countries which suffer from vitamin deficiency, low crop yield, and poverty. Just this year fantastic news has come in regarding crop yield and profit for millions of 3rd world farmers. It's hoped that soon we can get out things like Golden Rice to help with nutrition and health in those areas... If ignorance doesn't end up blocking the way.

So as it stands GMOs are beneficial for business, for the poor, and as an environmental aid. The biggest issue is ignorance and lies from the competition (like Natural News).

  • GMOs improve some products

Yes, I think that some GMOs are beneficial. For instance genetically altered seeds that deter insects are beneficial because they allow crops to be grown without the threat of being destroyed by pest. The same goes for those that are altered to withstand colder or hotter temperatures. GMOs have their positive points.

  • Increase Crop Yields

GMOs help increase yields in both crops and protein supplies. GMO corn and soy help fight off bugs and are drought-resistant. GMO salmon grows faster to help raise much-needed fish for a growing population in need of healthy sources of protein. GMOs are one way to help solve world hunger.

  • It would be hard to adjust, but we would get healthier food in the long run

I"m arguing that GMO foods , while they do increase the ability to make food, are not needed as much now as they have been. We have evolved past that need. Heck, when we shipped food to Somalia, alot of it just sat there and was wasted by warlords. We have enough food, make it quality food.

  • It Depends If They're Harmful

We still have no idea if genetically modified foods are safe for consumption, so its hard to say if they are beneficial. If we could obtain proof that they don't in some way harm the human body, then they are extremely beneficial because it has helped produce more bountiful crops.

  • No, in the long run GMOs harm the ecology

GMOs appear to have some benefits, at least in the short
term. Farmers can plant genetically modified crops that are resistant to
herbicides, for example. This allows them to kill the weeds that would
stifle their crops without harming the harvest. However, the long term effects
of GMOs may not be as beneficial. Certain insects, including Monarch
butterflies, are deprived of food sources by the practice of using GMOs. The
increased applications of herbicide that GMOs enable are also destructive to
the environment, according to many advocates.

  • Gmo's are bad

Back in the time of the cavemen they had hunted and gathered. The foods they ate were not modified and as time went on people still didn't end up altering food until the last century and if you look at statistics it is not a good change. The obesity rate has gone up, people are becoming addicted to food, and foods are being mass produced. Food is supposed to be grown in the ground not in a plant.

  • GMOs are more harmful than beneficial!!!

GMOs maybe used to help people in other place get food and end starvation slowly around the world. However, more and more toxic substances are in the crops with GMOs than with those that don't have GMOs. The more toxic substances in food that is eaten, the more chance it is that people could start to get sick from them. Also, while GMOs may be helping the human race and population, it is harmfully affecting the environment. Birds, amphibians, insects, and soil organisms are dying and getting sick just from consuming a little bit of the crops with GMOs in it. Instead of just caring for the human species, we should start caring for animals and living organisms that die after eating GMO plants. Therefore, GMOs are more harmful than beneficial.
