Are humans the super virus that will destroy the earth?

Asked by: Kassandra
  • Humans are Infection

Pure evil is man who seeks to enslave Mother Earth destroy all her gifts she's given pure of heart. We terrorize animals before we kill them. Use chemical warfare to murder helpful creatures like bees. So self absorbed and lazy to work with nature. Every living organism has purpose it just seems like ours is yes a thinking ugly all consuming virus.

  • Planet Earth Does Not Need Us.

Planet Earth does not need Humans, but man needs planet earth to exist. But the governments, churches and the banking system chooses otherwise. As one gains wisdom, one can only reflect upon the errors of the past. Man is a liar in all his endeavors. Nothing he does for the love of planet earth, but only for his insecure mental status. What a piety, but the truth is being revealed daily. Charlie Chaplin "A message for humanity" is a beautiful message. Change must start with each person.
Thank 's to all who care for humanity, and planet earth.

  • Of course, but what matters is who cares.

I don't think there's any question that humans are going to fundamentally alter every single ecosystem that exists anywhere on earth, and ultimately to cause the extinction of many species. What I wonder though, is whether it actually matters.

And here I think that perhaps all we have to appeal to on the level of ethics is the rather tenuous notion that habitat destruction causes pain and distress to the animals that are caught up within it. Animals that are hunted or neglectfully poisoned feel the brunt of this of course, but otherwise the distress might be less attributable - for example neither polar bears nor corals will understand that humans are responsible for the climate change that causes their lives to be unfeasible; "new world" (Aus, NZ and Antarctica) mammals and birds will only care during the few moments in which they are being killed by introduced species, and gorillas might contemplate the bleak future of their immediate associates due to habitat destruction but won't consider the gravity of the extinction of their species on a global scale.

    What about us?

I wish it were possible to pipe David Attenborough onto every TV in the world, and to try to convince people that the world is bigger than just their own immediate priorities.

But I fear that any amount of "education" is never going to be enough to convince people to change their lives to the extent necessary to prevent the destruction of the non-human world... And quite possibly of ourselves as well. Humans may in centuries to come look back and weep for the destruction they've caused, but I just can't see anything preventing that from happening in the first place. I think it's just in our nature, to want more that can possibly be delivered.

But in the end what does it matter? When all the non-domesticated animals and unexploited lands are gone, who will be left to suffer, except for ourselves of course? Or will we still be distracted by the anticipation of the things we can buy once we can afford it? That's all it comes down to when you think about it.

We can stop this completely in only 100 years of course, simply by not having kids. I've made my choice not to do so. How about you? What's your contribution?

  • Most definitely destroying the world

Humans are greedy, we have wiped out 50% of natural habitats over 40 years, the impact on animals and environment is huge. We are over populating the planet and the more people the more farmed animals we torture and the amount of waste. Where is all that to go? It disgusts me. I ldo not care anymore if humans wipe themselves out, the earth may be a better place. I have chosen to not have children as they do not have a good future.

  • Mankind has corrupted itself to the point where we destroy the earth for pointless reasons

Since the recent decades mankind has shown more of its vile side with the fact that we are willing to destroy the earth and, each other for our own selfish convenience, the 1% has corrupted the 99% beyond repair with useless stuff like cars, sports, etc and, now nobody even cares as to what these pointless activities are doing to our planet and, i think we will keep heading to that direction until it is too late because people will not speak up and we are being suppressed by the 1% and the mass corruption of the 99%. We are definitely a failed society we don't bother helping the poor we only help our own private greed and,it really is a sad thing to see this happen to our species and unless there is a change we're all doomed to a horrid fate.

  • Big brains does not necessarily mean big smarts

Humans proudly but erroneously credit themselves as the smartest species on the planet. We have done brilliant things in medicine, space but it does not compare to the destruction we have caused. Having big brains with lots of neural activity does not automatically equate to being smarter than other animals. The human species could have survived without currency,guns,cars,A/C,hairspray, nuclear,GMOs,pesticides and overfishing ...And we would have the healthy Earth we had just 100 years ago.

  • It is bound to happen in Human hands.

Humans have only recently figured out that we are over consuming our resources and have only thought now to change. I don't think this will help seeing as though humans focus more on develop than sustainability . Our "power" will unfortunately not stop unless all businesses agree to fund and change this cause. But clearly wealth seems to intrigue other people's perspective.

  • We will destroy this planet

Every other species that lives on this planet does so in equilibrium with planet earth, humans are the only creatures on the earth that take over and destroy natural habitats all over the planet, its mans inquisitive mind that has led to over pollution of this planet destruction of rain forests, this is all counter intuitive to the survival of the planet and every living creature on it, the only difference is a virus has no choice, its the way its programmed, but we as humans do have a choice and we should start choosing to respect this planet or we will soon be extinct.

  • Super virus has spread out

No species has dominated all other life forms so much as humans have, destroying natural capital, shattering ecosystems and making this worlds incredibly poor place. We are not able to turn back time, bring back extinct species. Extinction is forever. We are squandering earth natural capital, slowly turning it to lifeless desert.

  • 70% say no?

I thought that this would be clear, but obviously not. Us humans are destroying in planet, even the people who don't mean to. The average person will throw away thousands of tons of waste in their life. They will buy products that have been made by harming the environment. Greed and desire has made man destroy the environment and kill animals. We will first make many species extinct. This will have a rippling effect on the food chain. We will over populate and run out of resources. We are screwing up the world and it's devastating to see

  • The Earth is meaningless. We are what give this rock meaning.

Without humanity or some other intelligence, the universe is black and quite. There is no beauty or joy or purpose. To say that humanity is bad for the world is like saying the mind is bad for the body. Or that the arts and culture are pointless. Such a statement is the sickest thing to come out of the new religion of environmentalism, where nature is God and the carbon foot print is original sin. I don't do religion, and I don't do self-deprecation thanks.

  • We are not a vires

We are not a virus as we are full human beings with brains, hearts, limbs. A virus is an organism with particular features different to humans: no brain, no heart, no limbs and instead a genetic structure that replaces genes of good cells in the body so that they multiply.

  • Humans will destroy themselves before they destroy nature.

Humans cannot destroy earth even if they would blow the planet apart. The way that humans are heading is indeed that they destroy a lot iof plant and animal species. But there are over 7 million different (!) Species on this planet but only one single human species (!).They will destroy themselves via their own selfishness, vanity and greedyness and ignorance. They ignore and not conscious enough to grasp the reality that the only creature in nature that has no purpose, is human being.Every tiny little creature (unless man made) has a purpose and fits in, in the big cycle of life..Like a particular tree gathers certain plants and animals around him which feed of his dead material, such as leafs for example and turn it into nutrients for the tree...And only certain animals and plants will be found next to that tree as they need this particular earth and tree in order to thrive.

But humans? No one -not a single creature needs a human being in order to survive (except artifical man made animals...).But humans think they are important while in reality they are not.But they depend with their lives on nature for food and shelter resources. .But nature? No. Not even a tiny specle in nature depends on human being. ..

So human being will destroy themselves after they have plundered so called natural resources like oil for example (which gives earth a certain weight. And everything has a function in nature, nothing wasted.)

So humans will eliminate their most essential ingredients for existence on earth which are birds, bees and trees. This will release a domino effect until humans have extinct. So even if a only a few microbes survive from the over 7 million species , earth will recreate nature in her own time. .Maybe a few thousand years maybe a few millions...She has all the time of the earth.

So with no purpose in nature, why are humans here? A spiritual reason seems to be the only answer...Maybe a religious one or just reason to live with nature and not to destroy it like so many old tribes have done before greedyness and unconsciousness of other humans brought goods into their villages...

  • Humans are natural

Biology continues to support the fact that what humans do, is simply natural. When an animal adapts, it may drive others to extinction or force them to adapt. Sadly humans should be described as a "hyper-adaptive organism" instead of a so called "super virus". Because of so we don't allow ecosystems to adapt to our presence and eventaully drive them to extinction.

  • Humans are not a virus.

No, there is no super virus masquerading as humanity that will destroy the earth. That's a bit histrionic and overdramatic. We are surely poor environmental stewards at this time, but we can and will continue to improve as we raise our level of awareness about the damage we're doing to the planet. This will lead to a better earth for all, not destroy it.

  • Humans are not viruses

Humans are not the Super Virus that will destroy the Earth. Humans are creatures called Homo sapiens sapiens and are mammals that walk upright, has a brain, intelligence, and other stuff that a virus doesn't have and doesn't have what a virus should have. For many things, a virus is one pretty super small object that can kill humans and not the other way around because humans are pathetic. Viruses are microscopic and only carry itself and some DNA that is used to transmit inself into a host to replicate and destroy living creatures. That is not even all.

  • We Need To Change.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of reasons to vote for the latter in this debate. However, humanity has the power to not just destroy the planet, but save it. While big business moguls may get in the way when it comes to the ways of pollution reform and control; it ultimately rests on the hands of everybody in the world to save our planet. We are part of the animal kingdom. However, unlike most animals, we have the power to create and destroy on such a large scale, that saving the planet from ourselves is well within our power. We simply need to change.

  • The World is still turning

Those that try to prove that is is all the humans fault are just try to press their own socialism on others. Humans have existed for a long time and the world wasn't destroyed. If we are the virus, we are very self destructive and I know of no virus that contends with the host and with itself.

  • Makes no sense

You should start by distinguishing humans and civilized humans and nonCivilized humans. You cant get nowhere without a minimum of nuances. Your questions makes no sense and is pretty nihilistic. Is there only one culture on planet earth, only one human culture, or is there more to it? This is important.
