  • Yes. Why is this bad?

Yes, immigrants take US jobs. When they are in the US, what other kind of job are they going to take? However, there seems to be an unstated assumption that people who were born in the US "deserve" those jobs more than immigrants. (There's an even more unstated assumption that "born in the US" means "white," but I'm not going to go there) As long as an immigrant is legally in the US, he or she is as entitled to a job as anyone else who is legally in the US, born there or not. Illegal immigration is a totally separate issue, of course.

  • Yes, But It's The Corporations Who Give The Jobs To Them

Yes immigrants do take U.S. jobs. Immigration has always been a source of cheaper labor for employers. To solve the problem we need to make it not worthwhile for the corporations to give away jobs for so little wages. We need to fine each company who is caught hiring illegal immigrants, and the fines need to be more than if they hired legal citizens or legal immigrants.

  • Illegals take jobs from americans

Visa's = immigrants taking jobs from americans, 11mil illegals take jobs from Americans, corporate America hires immigrants for less money and lay off americans, farmers and ranchers hire illegals at lower wages and take jobs from americans, many say that illegals are doing jobs americans wont that is a lie. Americans don't want to work for $5.00 -$9.00 an hr these low wages are a direct result of illegals flooding the job market. ILLEGALS GO HOME!

  • 93 Million US Citizens Unemployed ...

12-25 million "immigrants" (legal or otherwise) the best new job figures I could find was from 900K - 1.7Million ... Most of the jobs paying 19K-35K per year. .. Why oh why are we importing more "immigrants" to come "work" in the US with 98-102 MILLION US Citizens out of the workforce? ..What is wrong with this picture?

  • Jobs being stolen

The lower skilled workers are struggling as foreign labor is cheaper to train and employ. The immigrants are accepting jobs and wages below market price, pushing down the wages of local workers' wages. Of course they are taking up our job. This also the case in other nations, like Singapore an Britain

  • Yes but so is everyone else

Of course immigrants are taking jobs in the United States but, so are other people as well. When we are asking by immigrants what exactly are we even referring to in the first place? Everyone somewhere in there family line was an immigrant to this country so let us be fair.

  • They're Taking Jobs

Yes, immigrants are taking United States citizens' jobs. They obviously have to find some type of work when they enter this country, and when they get a job it is one that a person that already lived here could have had. I have no problem with it, but they are taking jobs.

  • No, they do not!

Believe or not immigrants help the economy, plus there are jobs native-borns aren't willing to do that immigrants accept. They also creat new market. Like someone said above, job shortages & vacancies can co-exist. The fact that some people are unable to find work doesn't automatically mean an immigrant took it. Some companies are willing to file work visas for immigrants & those are expensive & involve a lot of paperwork, if they are of the opinion the immigrant is worth the trouble.

  • They need jobs, too!

Not only do we need jobs to earn money. Even if they are immigrants, they need stuff, too. I mean, what if you didn't have the stuff you needed, you wouldn't want other people to take a job you could have a chance getting so.....Back off and leave them alone.

  • They do not take American jobs, what ever left out jobs they do and struggle for a livelihood...What else can they do for a living

Support the Immigrants to find a job do not criticize them instead help them out...What can they do for a living come here and die...They need a job to survive....Who the hell are you stop them ...Remember that you too have migrated to the USA and has been like them

  • They take jobs Americans don't want

Lots of immigrants are uneducated and can't afford to pay for school therefore they can't get a job that requires such education. If you looked around and researched, most immigrants, or people from other nationalities, take laborer jobs like house cleaning and maids. Other kinds of those jobs are small jobs that they take even though the employer is paying them under minimum wage just because they can, even though it's illegal. My argument proves that, yes theoretically they are taking jobs, but jobs no one else wants and what other jobs are they supposed to take. The immigrants came here for a better life, to get a job, to go to school, to get money and the way to do that is to get a job and if we are saying no, you're taking jobs away from US born people then they can't get a job and have a better life. They are taking jobs but they need one and want one. Even so, they are still taking the jobs we don't want.

When I use the term "we" I don't mean that we are better, I mean US born citizens.

  • Immigrants create jobs

The five reasons are: a) self-employed migrants directly create new jobs; b) migrant innovators indirectly create jobs; c) new migrants fill labor shortages and lubricate the labor markets; d) the high-skilled contribute to technological adaptation and the low-skilled to occupational mobility, specialization, and human capital creation thus creating new jobs; e) by raising demand, immigrants cause firms to expand and hire more workers.

In addition, we all know that labor shortages and job vacancies can co-exist. Vacancies exist even under high unemployment because of mismatches between job opportunities and the ability (qualifications) or willingness of natives to fill those jobs.

Immigrants as consumers increase the demand for goods and services. This higher demand in turn affects the labor market by boosting the demand for labor, leading to an increase in equilibrium employment.
