If they don't aim to follow religion, then they are people whom also make mistakes.
If someone were to be a true Muslim and follow the Quran to the tea, look at the sheikhs, they are some of the most peaceful people.
Pick up the holy book, or your argument is invalid.
Don't pick and choose verses if you haven't read around or other parts pertaining to a specific point.
It is ignorant and racist to say that Muslims are not peaceful, while it would also be ignorant to say that they are all peaceful. Most are, though. Whether or not the religion is peaceful is another story. The Quran promises that those who do not submit will burn in a fiery hell in the afterlife. It states that women must cover their faces when abroad, and even explicitly states that men are better than women. "4:34 'Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them.'" However, these things in no way means that all Muslims are not peaceful people.
The international aim of Islam is to gain a worldwide state of peace where people do not feel threatened or unsafe. The word Islam actually means "peace" and the religion itself is about a personal struggle in the way of Allah, nothing to do with violence. Islam teaches that Muslims should act kindly towards all other beings: "Those who are kind and considerate to Allah's creatures, Allah bestows his kindness and affection on them".
Yes, overall and most of the Muslims are peaceful people who are not terrorists or sympathizers of terrorist activities. I think that Islam overall is a peaceful religion, and those Muslims who consider themselves devout realize that being a true Muslim means that you are kind and nonviolent to everyone.
Muslims are generally peaceful individuals, as the religion promotes many principles that are rooted in peace and harmony. The Muslims who are responsible for the wars, killing and violent acts in society only represent a small percentage of Muslims, and are not an accurate depiction of the Muslim values of honoring God and holding family in high esteem.
Muslims are peaceful people. Their religion like so many religions values peace. When we think of Muslim countries we might think of war, tyrannical leaders and destruction. We have to remember it is not the majority of Muslims in these countries who are causing this, it is small sub groups that do not practice or work towards peace.
In general, yes, Muslims are peaceful people and Islam is a peaceful religion. Western Muslims in particular are very peace-loving people and many have adapted well to Western cultures. It's hard to argue that Muslims are not peaceful when we as Americans are the ones with most of the guns, bombs, etc. Muslims get a bad rap because a few blow up a few people when our own government blows up entire countries. So whose the violent one? We are.

Quran (8:12) - "I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them"
Quran (9:5) - "So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captive and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them."
Quran (9:29) - "Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued."
Quran (17:16) - "And when We wish to destroy a town, We send Our commandment to the people of it who lead easy lives, but they transgress therein; thus the word proves true against it, so We destroy it with utter destruction."
Quran (47:35) - "Be not weary and faint-hearted, crying for peace, when ye should be uppermost (Shakir: "have the upper hand") for Allah is with you," This sura can also be applied perfectly to Moslems living here. As long as they are in the miniority, they are to remain quiet and deceive us. When they become strong enough, then they must fight us and our democracy
Quran (48:29) - "Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. And those with him are hard (ruthless) against the disbelievers and merciful among themselves" Islam is not about treating everyone equally. There are two very distinct standards that are applied based on religious status. Also the word used for 'hard' or 'ruthless' in this verse shares the same root as the word translated as 'painful' or severe' in verse 16.
Look at native american tribes, the they didn't call themselves "warriors" for pr(now they do)
May I emphasize this 911.

Lesser educated Muslims sometimes claim that the root word of Islam is “al-Salaam,” which is “peace” in Arabic.
An Arabic word only has one root. The root word for Islam is “al-Silm,” which means “submission” or “surrender.” There is no disagreement about this among Islamic scholars. Al-Silm (submission) does not mean the same thing as al-Salaam (peace), otherwise they would be the same word.
Submission and peace can be very different concepts, even if a form of peace is often brought about through forcing others into submission. As the modern-day Islamic scholar, Ibrahim Sulaiman, puts it, "Jihad is not inhumane, despite its necessary violence and bloodshed, its ultimate desire is peace which is protected and enhanced by the rule of law."
In truth, the Quran not only calls Muslims to submit to Allah, it also commands them to subdue people of other religions until they are in a full state of submission to Islamic rule. This has inspired the aggressive history of Islam and its success in conquering other cultures. So what can you expect ?
