Are old people pushed to a state of dependence due to the present social set up?

  • Yes, they are.

Old people are pushed to depend on others and not really rely on themselves. It is through no fault of their own though, the money the government used to supply for things like retirement and medical bills have gotten worst. Now a days it isn't uncommon for many families to live together despite all being adults.

  • Old people are not pushed to a state of dependence due to the present social set up.

Old people have a lot of power and influence, and they have all the money they have saved during their entire lives. Old people who are pushed into a state of dependence were actually dependent on someone else their entire lives. Most old people age with grace and dignity, and they are always independent.
