I believe sports can be very important for teenagers. When teenagers add sports to their schedule, they are adding a commitment. Since sports fosters a wide range of benefits, it can be an excellent learning tool for teens, especially in the areas of time management. What they learn as student and athletes they can translate into life lessons later.
Teenagers need to stay involved and connected to develop a sense of belonging and connection. One way this can be achieved is through sports. Developing one's physical body increases health and confidence and doing this along with others teaches a sense of camaraderie and teamwork that will help teens see themselves as part of a larger world than just what goes on inside their adolescent minds. And this sense of connection will serve to bind them to the greater community around them.
