Are the actions police officers take against certain citizens fair?

  • No responses have been submitted.
  • Police abuse power

Sometimes they forget that they are not the law, rather they think they are just citizens who have the job to enforce the law. Too many of them step out of there boundaries and make the rules as they go along. Also when officers are reported for unacceptable behavior they receive little to no punishment.
I realize that without law enforcement there would be complete chaos, that there would be no way to maintain order. Police officers job is to keep the peace but many of them stir up trouble by accusing people of things they didn’t do, and being extremists when it comes to laws. For example, there are places were police offers are required to pull people over for going 1 mile an hour over the speed limit. This is not a way to maintain the peace. One would think that since the American citizen pays for the salaries of police officers through tax dollars, that they would receive better treatment and help from law enforcement.
Some police officers forget the simple fact that they are not the law, they simply enforce the law. Some say that this is a minority of the police officers that act this way. I saw that if it is a minority it’s is a far too big of a minority for my comfort. There have been way too many cases where police officers have been unhelpful, consisted, brutal, and even criminals themselves. An example of this would be the Johnny Gosh case. The police chief was only worried about protecting himself and all the other police officers and even the FBI just fall in line behind him. Police have a close resemblance to one of the dumbest animals on earth, sheep. What one of them do they all just fall in line and do the same. They back each other up on ridicules situations. Police officers have gone around and falsely accused people of smoking. Then when they found out they were wrong they accused the individual of trespassing and loitering. And all the other police officers just followed right behind, knowing full well the accusations were incorrect and wrong.
Police officers also don’t follow the restriction of the law. There has been unnecessary shootings, kidnapping, detaining, and arrests made by no authority of the law. Many say that police officers have to act in the moment. It is true that there has been some decisions made that where wrong made purely from thinking in the moment. But flipping on your lights so that someone will get out of your way on the highway doesn’t qualify as thinking in the moment. Police pull people over for following them and then detained them when the citizen had committed no crime and the police had no reasonable suspicions. Citizens of the U.S. pay their salaries and have every right to follow them to see how good of a job they are doing, or what they are doing.
