This is a decision that will effect people on both sides of the issue and needs to be handled delicately. If a decision is made too quickly without considering every single scenario and all of the ethics involved, the wrong decision could be made leading to detrimental effects. They also must have a plan for damage control to handle to side that feels like they've "lost" when a decision is made. Taking their time is the wisest choice the Boy Scouts have made in this situation.
The decision regarding gay people in Boy Scouts of America is completely at their discretion being a private organization. Technically, the homosexual people are not a protected class here in America, so there is no violation, at least as far as the law is concerned, of discrimination.
Now I will say, if this was a government funded operation, then this shouldn't be an issue at all. Homosexuals are people just like you and I and deserve the same inalienable rights that we have in this county.
As a private organization, the boy scouts have the right to do anything the like within the law. However, discrimination is still discrimination. Plus, if you look at the history of sexual abuse in the Boy Scouts, offenders have always been straight males, and not gay men. So, they are wrong.
The preservation of America must be protected and promoted from within as well as without our borders. Today, The Boy Scouts want to use the great name of 'America' in their official organizations' name but they don' want to honor what it stands for. TODAY, America's laws have made it clear that no business is allowed to discriminate anyone based on their sexual orientation. The Boy Scouts want to that. They basically are no different that Al Qaeda who want to undermine the Constitution and the Civil Bill of Rights.
The Boy Scouts of America must allow gays or move their operations to Iraq where they can call themselves The Boy Scouts of Allah and kill all homosexual while they are it.
