Are the Daleks the most iconic villains ever created?

Asked by: Jegory
  • Yes, the Daleks are the most iconic villains ever created

Fifty years on, everyone knows what a Dalek is. It has come to represent Doctor Who and has become even more famous than the TARDIS or the Doctor itself. They are also some of the most feared cinematic enemies and nothing else has come even close to having the same impact that they had on television and the World.

  • yes they are very important

Fifty years on, everyone knows what a Dalek is. It has come to represent Doctor Who and has become even more famous than the TARDIS or the Doctor itself. • Daleks reign supreme!

They are so iconic to our culture now. There was an experiment a couple of years back and they found out that nine out of ten children in the UK knew what a dalek was. If that isn't impressive then I don't know what is. They also have a great catchphrase [EXTERMINATE].

  • Daleks will never be forgotten...

The wording is correct, no offense. The Daleks are the main antagonists in the series. Even though there are various other "villains", the Daleks are important in the overarching plot of Doctor Who. I think they are the most iconic villains, because they are based on the Nazis. Their recognition goes beyond individual characters--they are an entity. What they stand for is what makes them such fearsome, unforgettable villains.

  • I don't agree

All due respect to my fellow mega-whovians Daleks may be iconic but outside of Britain Doctor Who may be famous but in countries like America it really isn't as famous as things like Star Wars or the Marvel and DC comic brands' villains. When it comes right down to it DW, while incredibly awesome. Outside of Britain it just isn't that famous

  • Daleks are among them, but the list of iconic villians goes on for way too long.

Here's a list of iconic villains, most of them are more recognizable.

    - Bowser
    - Darth Vader
    - Hannibal Lector (his face mask thing is famous)
    - Freddy Kruger
    - T-800
    - Godzilla
    - King Kong

Not to mention, there's a flaw in your wording. As major as Daleks are in the series, they aren't the villains. If they were, the show would have to be about specifically Daleks. Every episode has a villain, sometimes it's a Dalek, and sometimes it's not.

  • As much as i love the daleks...

Darth Vader is probably the most iconic. Everyone in the world knows who Darth Vader is. There is still a lot of people that have never even seen a Dalek before, but they have seen and know Darth Vader. You can ask any random person if they know what a dalek is in any other country besides the U.K. And more people wouldn't know then would. But you can ask the same question about darth Vader in every country including the U.K. And more people would say they know who Darth Vader is then those who don't.
