Forget about the Rapture and the Armedaggon. Humans are ruining the environment, which is causing severe planet changes. If we go on like this, the earth will be inhabitable. Plus, a big space rock collides with the earth every 50-100M years. Where are we? Smack dab in middle at 65M! So are the end times near. Just perhaps.
But the most likely chances of the end will be Nibiru (Planet X) colliding with us, or the sun creating a "Super Nova". But the "End of times" most likely won't happen for at LEAST 2000 more years. The sun has about 100,000 to 1,000,000 years left. So no, it is not near. (But being a Christian, I do believe in God's way, but that probably won't happen for a while.)
There's nothing to suggest that the end times for humanity are near. In fact, it's equally unlikely that our current capitalist empire is likely to fall under within our lifetimes. Changes in society are inevitable, but humanity has managed to prevail. As far as a religious apocalypse, I certainly haven't seen any of the signs.
