Are the majority of British-descended surnames in America Lowland Scottish names?

  • Scotland founded America, and yes duh

    Burns, Scott, Bowers, Calhoun, Smith, Armstrong, Limbaugh, Spears, and the list goes on. These are the common surnames you'll find in the USA. Last time I checked, Winslet, nor Prescott, nor Richmond are that common in America. No, the most of America is Scots-Irish, not English, not by a long shot. It's not surprising either that the Klan came from them.
