Are we as a society in need of a serious ethics check when films like the "Bumfights" series are steadily gaining popularity among American youth?
  • Society in need of serious ethics

I personally think that we as a society is in need of a serious ethics check because of the film is steadily gaining popularity among American youth. I personally think that films need serious ethics because it affects the popularity among American youth. I personally think that the films also has an affect on the society.

  • Society Reaches New Low as Depravity Sells

Supporting the 1st Amendment, the print, release, and distribution of such material is absolutely fine. That is not the problem. In a capitalist society, people only make things that other people want. The rule of supply and demand remains constant. Why has the demand for "Bumfights," "Jackass," or the aged and now banned "Faces of Death" become so sought after forms of entertainment among the youth? This steady progression of lower and lower standards of behavior is disconcerting. As children become adults and remember their adolescence they want to oppress their child a little less than their parents did them. This leads to more violent music selling, more violence and sex on TV, more blood and gore on video games. Try as the regulatory agencies may, parents are still buying the age limited content for their children. Is this a general lack of concern for the content of what their child is exposed to; Or are parents really unaware of why content ratings are created and published?

  • Children need good role models.

Yes, we need a serious ethics check when films like Bumfights are gaining popularity among American youth, because children need more positive role models. One of the downsides of the open communication that we have today is that things that are not mainstream can find an audience because people who are into them can find each other. Bumfights is one such example.

  • Regulating the film industry isn't the problem, be like Stephen Spielberg

Steven Spielberg didn't let his kids watch Schindler's List until they turned 18. This is the problem with youth. Not only do they watch restricted movies, they watch alot. Don't censor the art, but have good parents, especially fathers, make sure that kids don't watch things they shouldn't be watching before bedtime.

  • Its always been like this

No, we do not need to try to change because we like this movie, because it is in our nature. Humans have always like violence, and that is never going to change. It brings out the fight for survival we all have inside us, that is built into our genes.
