Are we protecting ourselves enough on the internet?

  • Yes, And We Must Balance Protection with Freedom and Innovation

Protection is important, but so are freedom and innovation. The problem
is that these three goals conflict. The freedom to use other people’s
ideas can stifle innovation, when some copy rather than create and others keep
their creative ideas to themselves for fear they will be stolen. Similarly,
protection can conflict with freedom. Countries that want to protect their citizens
from decadent or sacrilegious ideas may impair freedom. People who advocate
freedom as the most important value may put the young, innocent and vulnerable
at risk. Society must balance the competing aims of those who share the
    internet.

  • We are not protecting ourselves enough on the internet.

We are not protecting ourselves enough on the internet. People do not understand the concept of internet privacy, so their facebooks and other forms of social media are just left wide open for any one to see where they are at a certain time and what they are doing, which leads to bad things.
