What needs to be emphasized here is that some forms of drug use are never safe. A website that truly promotes safe drug use would in fact promote abstinence in those drugs which are highly addictive or immediately dangerous. It is possible that they may go into more detail about what to do if someone overdoses or is intoxicated, to avoid further possible injury. By explaining the risks of drug use and creating an atmosphere that both satisfies curiosity while steering people away from mistakes, such a website may gain more credibility with those thinking about using drugs.
It all depends on who the person is. It is obvious that drugs users will prefer the former, but overall, websites that promote abstinence encourage people to seek an alternative lifestyle free from drugs and a habit forming addiction. It will encourage current drug users to change their lifestyle and become active citizens in their society and morally acceptable people.
Websites that promote safe drug use are not better than those that promote abstinence, because there is no such thing as safe drug use. However, abstinence is safe. Someone cannot use drugs safely just like someone with an alcohol problem cannot continue to drink just a little bit. Abstinence is a positive message.
I do not believe that websites that promote safe drug use are better than those that promote abstinence. I do not agree with sites that would promote safe drug use. I think those sites do nothing but encourage some people to take drugs. That is why I do not think they are better.
