  • There should be bans protecting chidlren from subversive advertisements.

I think that since our children are our most maleable asset that it is important that they not be subject to inappropriate and subversive advertisements. Advertisements created explicitly to manipulate and produce consumer minded responses out of our children seems sick to me. I do not know how this could be properly enforced, but I support it.

  • Children buy things, too

Banning advertising aimed at kids would effectively ban all commercials for toys, theme parks, cartoons, movies, etc. Parents and children both spend money. Telling advertisers they can't advertise to children in some ways limits free speech, which in the U.S. Is unconstitutional. If the basis for this question is that children will blow their money, whether it be accumulated from an allowance or earned by doing chores, on whatever they see on TV, it's going to happen. Children make mistakes, including financial mistakes, and parents should be there to guide them.
