  • Because i said so

  • Oil Exploration Must Be Banned

It's important to protect the natural environment in the Antarctic. Drilling for oil would disturb the habitats of several previous animal species. Competition for resources in this area would also cause international disputes. Since many countries claim different areas of the continent, there would clearly be armed conflict over what few resources can be found there. Also Antarctica is an undisturbed and beautifully preserved natural habitat, lets keep it that way.

  • No exploration in the Antarctic

The world's thirst for fossil fuels is driving climate change. Drilling for oil or minerals in the Antarctic is also highly risky since the smallest oil spill would disrupt and destroy delicate ecosystems. Furthermore Antarctica's weather, ice and distance from any industrialized areas make mineral extraction extremely expensive and extremely dangerous.

  • Yes, it should be banned.

There are many concerns about how this affects the already big hole in the ozone layer. Mining will only make it worse since all the smoke of machinery will go right up into the hole. If the Sun’s rays get too strong, then it will weaken the ozone layer on the other side too. Under the amt. Of heat and pressure from both sides, the ozone layer will dissolve in that area and will quickly do the same other areas of the world. This will lead to intense heat which will kill all of us.

  • The ecosystem is fragile.

Antarctica has a very unstable ecosystem. Scientists in Antarctica have to be extremely careful. Small amounts of litter can make the ecosystem go haywire. There is already a treaty numerous nations have signed, banning using Antarctica for anything besides scientific research. The isolated and pristine area is perfect for scientific experiments.

  • Yes, I believe so.

I believe that companies should be banned from drilling in Antarctica. It is one of the few places in the world that is pristine and relatively free from the meddling of humans. Antarctica has a wide array of sea life that is endemic to the area, that could be irreparably harmed from drilling and oil spills.

  • The world is hungry.

Developed and developing countries will always want cheap and plentiful energy energy sources. And people like me will satisfy that hunger. The wheels are already in motion. 2019 is coming fast. Argentina and Australia are more capitalistically driven that you would think. And even New Zealand is looking form an income boost. Feed my growing economies. Big XOM is here.
