The fashion industry really should get behind natural fabrics and ethically produced textiles. Not disposable clothes and equally disposable images for the easily led to aspire to. The biggest problem is with money. As long as producing goods with plastic fibers generate money, manufacturers will stick to it. Think also of the replacement of the fibers with natural ones, but the same specifications, this will be costly to produce. Pollution is then secondary, because with everything which pollutes, as the cars also, we accept the poisoning of the environments as a necessary evil.
You would think that we would have learned by now with all the damage we have already done that it is not worth it in the long run to continue to pollute our air and water. Beauty is not that important, but leaving a cleaner world for our children is.
We have many different types of beauty treatments these days. Some of which are quite natural and not a threat to the environment as we know it. Microplastics need to be banned all together, women don't need microbeads any longer. So, these need to stop being used in products just for beauty purposes. It's bad enough hair spray is still being sold out there.
Microbeads and other microplastics are a potentially deadly threat which poses great health risks to the human and animal populations of the world. As microplastics enter the world's waterways, they are consumed by fish, which are then consumed by humans. This creates a very dangerous situation for the world at large.
